A Message from Principal Amy Senethavilay
Pleasant View Families,
It has been a hectic and exciting first week at PVE. Our students are exceptional and have supported one another greatly, especially in welcoming our new students and kindergartners.
Thank you for the help with the pick-up and drop-off system. We have already made significant progress with the time it takes to release our students as everyone learns where to go and builds consistency. Just a couple of reminders, if there is a need to change the pick-up location at the end of the day, please make sure you have been in contact with the office and teacher before 3:00. This will help ensure there is time to move students to the correct lines.
Also, I know many of you are arriving early and noting that kindergarten is out before other grades. We are helping them transition the next couple of weeks earlier to learn their routines without the chaos of all the bodies. The release is at 3:55, and students do not leave class until the bell rings.
For those at the Parent Parking Lot Pick-up area, siblings have been instructed to meet on the grass staging area and will be crossed as a family. We will continue to work on this. If you are at the far end of the sidewalk waiting for your child, please continue to make your way down toward the crosswalk as the crowd lessens. We will radio for students if they do not see you. We also ask that you not stay to gather in this area once you have students so we can quickly move students to additional families. Again, this has been more efficient each day, so THANK YOU!
Please remember that students must be able to load and unload the car on the curbside so they are not in the drive lanes. The goal is to unload approximately 8-10 vehicles at a time and then move them through before we allow our crosswalk to be utilized. If your child needs help, please park and help them across the crosswalk in the mornings. We also ask that all goodbyes are stated, and items gathered before your child opens the door.
Also, please, NO dogs. We cannot have them on campus or around the students. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
Please note that we DO NOT have a crossing guard at Gondola and Black Cat. Anything west of Black Cat is a bus zone due to the safety concerns of the speed of the road. Please utilize the bus if you live on this side of the boundaries. The flashers are scheduled to be installed anywhere from November to February. We will keep our families posted.
I keep stating this, but we cannot tell you how much your support and positive comments have meant to us. The smiles and stories we receive from your children are the highlights of the day. Thank you for sharing them with us and trusting us with their care and education.
All my best,
Amy Senethavilay

MASTER SCHEDULE
Pleasant View has built a new schedule that centers around 45-minute blocks to support fewer transitions and greater collaboration within the day to maximize our instructional time and learning opportunities for students. Please note this will take some adjustment, as we run on a four-day rotation. Your child's teacher will have a class schedule to identify the color-coded instructional day and specials your child attends.
Water Bottles HIGHLY Encouraged for Students
Visitors On Campus
Thank you for helping your child find their way to their class lines each morning this first week. We will now ask parents to drop off at the exit points or the front of the building and allow their children to walk to their playground and class lines. Adults will be outside to help supervise.
Parents are welcome to come to the office to bring students to school following an appointment to check them in or out early.
The district uses the Raptor System for all visitors. If there is a reason for you to be in the building or on the grounds, you MUST CHECK IN with the office to obtain a visitor's sticker. You MUST bring your PHOTO ID. If you have already entered your information into the Raptor System this year, please feel free to scan your Driver's License to receive your visitors pass. If you have not completed this process, you will need additional assistance from the front office the first time you visit.
Thank you for being so helpful with keeping our students safe.
