SLS Update

If you attended the Science of Reading training with Donnalynn Miller, you'll be happy to know that many of her suggested titles have been added to our Sora collection. I also added several new holiday titles. You can find these and more under the Just Added section.

Hour of Code is coming up the week of December 9 and we have 200 student licenses for Code Monkey available on a first come, first serve basis. I've used the free version with my students the past two years with much success. There are many advantages to the premium version of Code Monkey, including the ability to track student success and engagement. If you're interested, let me know. 🍌

We have a trial for Kids Discover through February 1.

Kids Discover Online access includes:

· 3,500+ science and social studies articles for grades K-8

· 3 Lexile reading levels, with read-aloud and translations (20 Lang.)

If you would like to attend the SSL Conference in May, let me know. I will be renewing NYLA-SSL memberships in December and you must be a member in order to attend.

May 1-3 -2025 NYLA-SSL Conference | Sharing Your Story

The SSL Conference Committee is accepting proposals for conference sessions! I know we as librarians tend to be modest but I'm confident that there are great things happening in our region that are worth of sharing. Especially of interest would be a session from you K-12 librarians and how you juggle that. Perhaps a couple of you could work together.

If you're interested but not quite sure, I'm happy to talk through your idea with you. The deadline for submissions is January 12.
