October 14th & October 25th Student Holiday
As a reminder, this Monday, October 14th, 2024 is a student holiday for all ALA students. While Friday, October 25th is a student holiday, it is also a time for families to sign-up for a Fall Family Conference. See the announcement below for more information about these upcoming conferences. The overview of all of our school holidays can always be found on our 2024-2025 Instructional Calendar for ALA Euclid and ALA Tech.
Save the Date: Noche Musical de los Muertos
We are excited to invite you to our 2nd annual Noche Musical de los Muertos, a special PK-12 event celebrating music, culture, and community! Please mark your calendars for Thursday, October 24th. Noche Musical is not only a major fundraising event for PK-12th grade groups & organizations, but it is also an opportunity for families to experience outstanding performances from our mariachi, theater, dance and band programs! Performances will run from 5-9pm, with food and activity booths available from 5-8pm. A preview of the performance lineup can be seen on this flyer. Wristbands will be sold at the door for $5 and food & activity booth tickets will be $1 per ticket. We hope that all ALA families will be able to attend this exciting event! The event is also open to the public, so we encourage families to share this invitation with friends!
Fall Family Conferences
Fall Family Conferences, an important step in building connections between the home and school, are beginning soon for all ALA students, PK-12th grade. Friday, October 25th is a student holiday to allow time for teachers to meet with all families. At the conference, teachers will share information about how your child is doing at school, and families are invited to share information about their child as well. Time will be provided for parents to ask questions specific to their child. Sign up for a conference HERE for ALA Euclid (PK-3) and HERE for ALA Tech (4-12). 9th-12th Grade Sign-ups will be shared by this upcoming Wednesday. Please see communication from your student’s teacher for additional information.

Field Trips
This week more students are connecting with their grade level PBLs throughout the community: On Tuesday, October 15 3rd Grade will be visiting the Witte Museum. On Friday October 18, Kinder will be going to Mission San Jose while 2nd grade is headed to Morgan's Wonderland. Please register in the corresponding app garden event if you plan to attend. See communication from your child’s teacher for more information.
Upcoming Drill
On October 18th, we will hold a lockdown drill at the ALA Euclid campus to practice campus procedures. This exercise is only a drill and students will be notified of this prior to beginning. We encourage you to take this opportunity to stress the importance of following directions during emergency situations with your child. Please take a moment to review the procedures of a lockdown drill:
- A lockdown is a response action schools take to secure interior portions of school buildings and grounds during incidents that pose an immediate threat of violence inside the school. The primary objective is to quickly ensure all school students, staff, and visitors are secured away from immediate danger. During this drill, our students will not transition and all individual classroom doors will be closed and locked. Teachers will move students out of line of sight of windows and have students maintain silence until the lockdown is lifted. You are welcome to contact jbarber2@saisd.net with any questions.

The end of the first 9 weeks was this past Friday. Report cards will be sent home next week!
Reminder: Character Book Dress Up Day
We are excited to announce that on October 31st, we will be celebrating Character Book Dress Up Day! This is a fun opportunity for students to dress up as their favorite book characters and bring their stories to life. If your student chooses to participate, please help your student select a costume that represents a character from a book they love. We encourage creativity while keeping costumes simple, school-appropriate and keep costumes from covering their faces. Don’t forget to have your child bring the book that features their character so they can share it with their classmates! We look forward to seeing all the wonderful characters!
