Lake Orion High School
April 15th. 2024
Happy Spring Dragon Nation,
Thank you to everyone for a great testing week. While there were some hiccups with the MSTEP on Thursday, Juniors were able to complete their Educational Development Plans through Xello as part of their career planning and state requirements and their ACT-WorkKeys, an assessment that tests a student’s job skills in applied reading, writing, mathematics and essential skills.
As the weather warms up and our classes spend more time outdoors for various activities, it’s essential to be vigilant about tick prevention. Here are some important steps to protect your students.
- Check for Ticks: Remind your children that as soon as they come indoors, conduct a thorough full-body tick check. Pay attention to areas like under the arms, around the ears, inside the belly button, behind the knees, and especially in their hair.
- Examine Gear: Ticks can hitch a ride into your home on clothing (and pets). Carefully examine coats, day packs, and pets to prevent ticks from attaching to family members later.
Lastly, the LOHS Admin team would like to remind our families of our dress code policy. (Below you will find the “keep it simple” line of thinking for the areas that seem to give us the most issue. For the entire text of the dress code, please refer to pages 66-67.)
1. LANGUAGE AND IMAGES: Keep it school appropriate and non-offensive.
2. CLOTHING FIT AND COVERAGE: Keep it tasteful and modest. We are a learning institution, dress accordingly please.
Thank you for your help and support in this matter.
Sincerely,
LOHS Administration

SUMMER AI PROGRAMMING

LOCS Is Hiring!
Free Tutoring
Dear LOHS Parents,
Lake Orion High School is extremely excited to announce a continuation of our free tutoring program. This program will allow your child to connect directly with LOHS staff in specific content areas (math, science, social studies, etc.) outside of normal school hours. These tutoring sessions are one hour and can take place either in person or virtually through Microsoft Teams (this is decided between the tutor and the student(s) in the group). This tutoring is intended as remediation as opposed to homework help; however, homework is often utilized to teach skills. As we do not have an inexhaustible number of tutors available, this program is on a first come, first serve basis.
To sign up your child, please fill out this form.
If you have additional questions, please contact Cathy Srock at Catherine.Srock@LOk12.org.
