Bemis Broadcast - May 23rd, 2025
Dear Bemis Families,
Wow β I donβt even know where to begin celebrating all the amazing moments from this week!
Our 5th Grade Play kicked things off with an unforgettable performance where our students truly shined. They sang, danced, and brought history to life β teaching us all while having a blast on stage.
We honored our student leaders during the End-of-Year Student Council Celebration, followed by a fantastic 5th Grade Band, Orchestra, and Choir Concert showcasing how hard these students worked this year.
One of the most special moments of the week was our Bemis World Showcase. This event was a powerful celebration of the cultures that make up our school community. Students and families proudly shared traditions, clothing, music, food, and personal stories β creating a warm and welcoming space for learning and connection. It was amazing to see the pride on our students' faces and the genuine curiosity and joy from everyone who came to learn more about one another. It was a beautiful reminder of what makes Bemis so special.
We wrapped up the week with our 5th Grade Marketplace, where students shared their entrepreneurial spirit, teamwork, and imagination. It was wonderful learning about business and economic concepts from our students!
Thank you to our staff, students, and families for helping make this such a meaningful and memorable week at Bemis. We are so proud of the heart, effort, and joy our community brings to everything we do!

Bemis Elementary Named 2025 National Math Pentathlon Champions
In an extraordinary demonstration of teamwork, critical thinking, and academic excellence, Bemis Elementary has been awarded the 2025 National Math Pentathlon First Place Gold Trophy, the highest honor in the Math Pentathlon program nationwide. This recognition reflects the school's exceptional performance across all three competition divisionsβsolidifying its place at the top of a field that includes thousands of students across the United States.
The Gold Trophy is presented annually to the highest-scoring team in the nation, based on cumulative performance across all grade levels, and requires teams to include boys and girls from five grade levels and meet tournament game monitor quotas. This year, Bemis Elementary not only met these rigorous standards but achieved the highest team score recorded in the last 24 years of the competition from Michigan.
This incredible success would not have been possible without the dedication and hard work of many individuals. At the heart of the program is Math Pentathlon Program Coordinator Lijo Thomanna, whose leadership and vision have helped build a strong foundation for success. Mrs. Stephanie Sims, the Staff Coordinator, along with the entire Bemis staff and custodians, provided continuous support throughout the season.
The Math Pentathlon Club at Bemis is run by the Bemis PTO, and each division was led by an outstanding team of volunteer coaches:
- Division 1: Gopalarao Thulugu
- Division 2: Murali Krishnamurthi
- Division 3: Vandan Kumar Manni and Sai Priya Katikala Prakasam
Congratulations to our incredible Pentathletes!
