Dear Parents and Guardians,
The first 9 weeks will end on October 13, 2023 and report cards will be sent home on October 19, 2023. The final two or three weeks leading up to the report card distribution is when students can make a significant impact on their grades by staying focused, having good attendance, completing assignments, and actively participating in class. Students' daily attendance is of upmost importance. Strong attendance is the key to academic success.
We encourage you to stay informed about your child's progress throughout this period. You can access your child's grades at any time through Skyward. If you need assistance logging in or creating an account or even just help with viewing your child's grades regarding Skyward, please call our front office. We are here to help and support you. Your involvement in your child's education is vital, and we appreciate your continued partnership in ensuring their success. Together, we can provide the best learning experience for your child.

Book Character Pumpkin Decorating Contest
In our continuation to promote the love of reading, we will have our annual Book Character Pumpkin Decorating Contest on Tuesday, October 24th. We would like our Superstars to participate in our annual event, but participation is voluntary. First, Second & Third place winners will be awarded in grades PK-5th. All entries must represent a book character appropriate for age/grade level. Keep an eye out for a letter with the guidelines being sent home this week. We can’t wait to see all the creative and beautiful pumpkins submitted!
Accelerated Reader Information
AR is up and running at Saenz Elementary. We encourage our students to meet their reading goals. Students work towards a weekly goal, a nine week goal and even a big end of year goal. Each grade level has weekly, yearly and nine week period goals. Students can wear their Met My Goal Brag Badge at the end of each AR week. At the end of the nine week period, they can shop at the AR store in the Library. The more points they accumulate at an 80% average, the greater the selection at the store. They will also have an opportunity to participate in a Bonus Reward. They can work towards having Fanta Float Fun, a Painting Party, some Slime Time and a Baubles and Beads craft session. Let’s not forget the AR Wall of Honor! What a great way to display the hard work and the love of Reading by having their name displayed on the wall!
Science Fair
Our campus Science Fair will be held on Tuesday, November 28th. We can’t wait to see all the great experiments our Superstars will be submitting for judging. This year all 3rd-5th graders will be required to submit a project. A campus parent information session will be held on Monday, October 9th at 5:30pm. Come join us to get some insight to Science Fair Projects Do’s and Don’ts. We will have Mr. Raul Gonzalez (a former NASA employee) as our guest speaker to highlight the importance of Science in education and the connection to developing critical and analytical thinkers for the 21st century.
