A Note from Mrs. Colangelo, Principal
Dear Sonoran Foothills Families,
April is an important month as we begin state testing! Attendance and punctuality are key to student success. Please ensure your child gets a good night’s sleep, eats a healthy breakfast, and arrives on time each day. Students should bring their headphones, a fully charged Chromebook, and their charger to school.
We’re also excited for upcoming events! Our Book Fair will take place the week of April 28th, and we invite families to join us for STEAM Night on May 1st from 5:00-6:30 PM—a night of hands-on learning and fun! Additionally, our spring sports teams are off to a fantastic start—let’s cheer them on!
Thank you for your continued support in making this a great learning environment for all students.
Best,
Warm regards,
Mrs. Colangelo, Proud Principal

Spring Book Fair
Our much-anticipated spring book fair arrives this month - Reading is out of this world! The fair will blast off with classroom previews 4/24-25 during school hours and everyone is invited to stop in Monday, 5/28 through Friday, 5/2. We even have a special family STEAM NIGHT on Thursday, 5/1 and the fair will be open until 7:00!
To make the fair a HUGE success takes volunteers. Please look for a communication from your classroom teacher/grade level as the fair approaches.
Additionally, eWallets may be set up beginning April 3 to make shopping the fair easy and safe! Parents may sign up/reactivate eWallets for their child. If your child had a balance after the fall fair, you should receive an email from Scholastic Books one week before our fair on how to apply the balance to a new eWallet. This is a secure, cash-free way for your child to shop at the fair! There is no charge to set up an eWallet. Plus, this is a great way for friends and family to help share the love of reading, so be sure to share the link! Visit
https://bookfairs.scholastic.com/bf/sfbobcats
Finally, remember that we now charge tax, 8.6%. For every dollar, bring a dime and you’ll have enough every time. To make sales transactions easier, we ask parents to consider ROUNDING UP at our spring fair. At our last fair there was nothing less than 75 cents (bookmark). Mrs. Crabbs will work with students to use as much of their money as possible. The difference rounded up to the nearest whole dollar will go to Share the Fair (formerly All for Books). Students rounding up will receive a ticket to enter to win one of two special prizes at the book fair! It's a real win-win and we hope you and your child will say YES to rounding up!
Happy reading and see you at the fair!

From the Desk of Nurse Christine
Hello Bobcat Families,
A few reminders for all my families:
*When clothes are borrowed from nurse's office please wash and return the borrowed clothing asap
*When cleaning through your child's clothing, if able please donate shorts(boys or girls) to nurse for others to borrow in the event of change of clothes needed
*As our weather is heating up, please send your child to school with a reusable water bottle everyday, if able please donate a case of water to school nurse so I have some to hand out for those who forget their water bottles.
*When updating student's shot record, please e-mail christine.wetzel@dvusd.org. or bring in a physical copy for me to update your child's health record.
Thank you for your cooperation in keeping all of our bobcats safe and healthy.
Take care,
Nurse Christine
SF Environmental Input Form for Student Placement
DVUSD guidelines do not allow a specific teacher to be requested, but may allow parents to provide input on their child’s needs and the type of teacher that may best serve their child’s needs. It is our belief at SF that teachers and parents can provide the best education possible for our children by working together. The responsibility for assignment of students resides with the principal and teachers working together to place students in a learning environment that best meets the needs of the student. Also keep in mind that teachers may change grade levels and/or schools which also adjusts class placement. Therefore, providing detailed information regarding the preferred learning environment and your child’s needs is critical. If you have multiple children, you will need to fill out one form per child.
We will take the following information into consideration when placing your child with a classroom that best fits your child’s profile.
Form must be submitted by Friday, April 25, 2025. Any input provided after April 25 may not be considered due to scheduling timelines.
