Team Members of the Month
Greetings from HMS!
This week we want to congratulate and thank our students who were recognized as "team members of the month" for our grade level academic teams for the month of October. Teachers were asked to select students that they wished to highlight as positive members of their teams, for any reasons that they felt were important. While there were many characteristics and attributes that these students demonstrated that made them worthy of selection, the word used most often to describe them was "kind", which I'm sure you would agree is the most important thing we can ask our kids to be.
We could not be prouder of them!
This fall, Hingham Public Schools will begin a process known as Portrait of a Graduate (POG), or Vision of a Learner (VOL), which will serve as "pre-work" for our district's formal strategic planning that will begin in January. Through the Portrait of a Graduate/Vision of a Learner process, our community will work together to outline the skills and competencies that Hingham students will need to thrive in learning, work, and life.
We invite all parents, caregivers and community members to provide input through the attached survey.

Thank you to everyone who donated Halloween candy for the troops. On Veterans Day our elementary and middle school volunteers packed 87 boxes of candy to be shipped to Hingham soldiers who are stationed domestically and abroad. They also made about 120 smaller bags of candy to be distributed to local veterans. We hope they enjoy this treat from home.
A Delicious Lesson
Last Thursday, November 7th the 8th grade Family and Consumer Science students had the opportunity to learn all about being a food truck owner, entrepreneur, budgeting and chef. June Summers from Mom on the Go food truck came, spoke and served our students grilled cheese sandwiches for the day as part of a HEF grant that was awarded to our program here at the middle school.
