Dear Parents and Staff,

I want to address a situation that came to light over the weekend regarding Stratigos, the company that provided our Resource Officer services. Unfortunately, Stratigos has filed for bankruptcy, which has resulted in the loss of our armed officer position on campus. This is public information and many of you may already be aware.

I understand this news may raise concerns about campus safety. Please rest assured that our top priority remains the safety and well-being of our students and staff.

In light of this unexpected development, I have made the decision to keep Mr. Charles on campus during this transition period utlizing other funding. While he will now serve in plain clothes as a floating sub, he remains a vital part of our emergency and crisis response team. Mr. Charles has been a beloved and trusted presence in our school community, and we are grateful for his continued dedication.

All other safety measures currently in place remain unchanged and fully operational. Our district is actively working to address the broader implications of this bankruptcy and to implement a long-term solution as quickly as possible. Once a more long term solution is achieved by the district, it will be shared with our families.

Our bell rings at 7:40. Students who arrive in their classroom after 7:45 are marked tardy. Please drop students off early enough for travel to the classroom. Car rider and walker parents, we need your help! We want every student to be able to eat breakfast so please have your student arrive early enough to be in the cafeteria by 7:30. This will give them time to eat and begin instruction on time. Students may arrive as early as 7:05. No one is on duty to supervise students before 7:05 so please don't drop them off. We appreciate your help!

Each student in grades 1-5, who reaches his goal, will attend a celebration each 9 weeks! Students should come home with AR books from our library each day. Please encourage your child to read at home and prepare to take their AR quizzes by asking them questions about the story.

To expedite the car line moving and ensure your child's safety, you must have your MES student pickup sign displayed in your window. Walking parents are to remain at the crosswalk and are not to come onto campus to retrieve their student. If checking a student out early, it must be done before 2:30 PM and all changes in routes home, must be called in before 2:00 PM. This is district policy. Please do not line up before 1:30.
