What's Happening??!!

Dear Hawley Parents/Guardians, Teachers, and Staff,

Busy, Busy, Busy! So much to do and so little time. Veteran's Day was amazing, the Turkey Trot is coming as we head into Thanksgiving Break.

Buckle up, stay seated, and keep your hands and feet in the car at all times, as you read on to find out What's Happening at Hawley .....

Veteran's Day was AMAZING! We had our Wall of Honor with student-made Stars honoring Veterans in their family. Our PTA provided Breakfast for Veterans and their families. We then had our Veterans Assembly with Patriotic songs and student writing. We concluded with a Veterans Parade through our halls.

Thank you to the Veterans that joined us for their service. We have not forgotten!

Our BIG Fall Fundraiser, The Turkey Trot is going extremely well. Our GOAL is $10,000. We have surpassed out goal and have currently raised $11,230. WOW!

The Classroom that raises the most money will win an Ice Cream Party.
Individual Student prizes are Gift Cards to Carraluzzi's and Toy Tree.

The Event is at Hawley School next Wednesday, 11/20, 9:20-11:40 AM. Parents are welcome to join to watch and/or even participate. Click HERE for the schedule of when classes are running.

There has been some shifting in our Leader Board.

Although we are accepting donations up until 11/27, if we reach $12,500 by the Turkey Trot (11/20), I will allow myself to be Duct Taped to a wall by Staff and Students!

Our Library Media Specialist, Mrs. Carlson, celebrates birthdays monthly with the Birthday Book Club. Students go to the library the month of their birthday for a treat and to choose a book for their classroom library.

Here is November...

Hawley School is always on the look out for Kindness. The following individuals put The "i" in Kind. They were caught going above and beyond in demonstrating kindness to others.

Watch Out- you could be next ;0)

Ms. Markelon and Ms. Tatto have an after school running club. It "runs" in the fall and again in the spring. Some students that participated this Fall, also ran in the Vicki Soto 5K Marathon. Way to Go!

As you may remember, during severe rain storms, our back parking lot and playground would flood. All the bark chip would run into our parking lot and the building often flooded. The issue was drainage and the slope of the property.

The town, over the last few weeks, have been cutting back trees and digging trenches around the property. Now that the drainage has been addressed, we are rebuilding our playground.

We are adding some steps at the entrance, raising up the ground, as well as re-establishing the varied levels. Fresh bark chip will also be added.

Very exciting: can't wait until it is finished (hopefully this week ;0)

• School Pictures have been shipped. They should arrive shortly.
• Parents picking up students at the end of the day, please do not start lining up until at least 3:15 PM as a long line develops and it congests the Fire Lane and creates traffic on Church Hill Road.
  
• Please make sure your child eats something before school and has a SNACK. Some lunches are early and there is an afternoon snack. Some lunches are later in the day and there is a morning snack.
