Hello Waterford Community -

This year certainly has flown by - it's hard to believe we are in the last week of school! Congratulations to the 5th grade class for their excellent production of The Wizard of Oz! Thank you to the volunteer directors as well as every parent/staff member who helped to make the show a success!

On Friday, we will celebrate our 5th graders with a promotion and awards ceremony in the morning. We do invite the entire student body - but ask that only parents of 5th graders plan to attend to make sure we have room for everyone.

WES PTO has partnered with EPI this year and is pleased to offer school supply kits as a convenient way to purchase exactly what your student needs for a successful year!

Each supply pack is customized to match the requirements for our school. Why fight the hassle of retail when these kits are a cost effective and convenient way of purchasing your back-to-school supplies.

All kits will need to be ordered online and will be delivered right to your student’s classroom.

The last day of school is coming up and at Waterford Elementary that means CARNIVAL! Featuring a dunk tank, obstacle courses, big splash fun, field games, snow cones and more! This fun event is for WES students and staff. No siblings, please.

The librarian from the Lovettsville Library met with all students last week to introduce the Summer Reading Program - Rock at the Library. Sign-ups for the Summer Reading Program begin on Saturday, June 15. Did you know everyone in the family can sign up for the Summer Reading Program?

Students can earn incentives and prizes for signing up and completing the Summer Reading Program. Let's Read! Read! Read!

On May 21, 2024 the School Board Finance and Operations Committee heard information from the Transportation team proposing an adjustment to the timing of the bell schedule for 10 LCPS elementary schools with the earliest bus stop pick-up times. Because some of our students had a very early school bus pick-up, we are adjusting our morning bell schedule to start at 7:45 a.m. for the next school year. This will allow buses to run a bit later in the morning. We are hoping this later pick-up time and slightly later bell time will allow for better service for all our students and families.

We will be posting this information in an updated bell schedule for next year and providing reminders about the adjustment prior to publishing the transportation routes for next year.

All medication and/or medical supplies that are stored in the Health Office need to be picked up by a parent/guarding prior to summer break. Please pick up your child's medication on the following days:

June 13 - 7:30 - 2:30

June 14 - 7:30 - 2:30

June 17 - 7:30 - 2:30

Per the Virginia Department of Education, medication CANNOT be stored over the summer.

Medications WILL BE DISCARDED if not collected by the end of the day on Monday, June 17.

We are currently without a cafeteria monitor and would appreciate your help durng lunch. Volunteers will help with students opening items, minor spills, and general reminders that we are inside and conversational volume should reflect that!
