Mac El Weekly News
Week of September 6
From the Principal
Wow, this week flew by! It was a short week with lots of exciting things happening! Student Council representatives were selected, the 4th grade went to Ag Day, and we planned events with PTO. And that doesn't even include the learning happening every day in their classrooms! Students have all completed their iReady Diagnostics, which provide data to guide instruction for whole group instruction, as well as identifying skill areas where students may need additional support.

STEM in our School
2nd & 3rd Grade
Book: Lacey Walker, Nonstop Talker
Challenge: Make the Same Design
Learning Objective: Learn leader roles, communication, design process and patience.
They have a folder between the two students. The first student is the captain. They build a design without the partner seeing it. They have to give clear directions and explain how to build it step by step. Once they are finished see if they look the same. If not the captain has to look and see what needs to be fixed and they help the partner correct the design. Then they switch roles.
4th & 5th Grade
Book: We Don't Eat Our Classmates
Challenge: Cup Stacking
Larning Objective: To learn our roles in groups. Communication. Planning before creating.
They have a set of cards for the cup design but they also have directions cards the captain picks and they have to stack the cups following the directions. For Example: Only use popsicle sticks to stack the cups. Example: Each person can only use one finger while stacking the cups.

Important Safety Reminder for All Extra-curricular Events
We appreciate families supporting Maconaquah at extra-curricular events. We want to remind all families of the importance of supervising your children at all extra-curricular events. For the safety of our students, elementary and middle school students must be accompanied by a parent or guardian in attendance at these events.
Please note that running around and engaging in rough play, such as throwing footballs, rocks, etc., can pose a risk to both players and spectators. In order to maintain a safe environment for everyone, we ask that you refrain from allowing your children to participate in these activities.
Your cooperation is greatly appreciated, as it helps us in creating a positive and safe atmosphere for our community.

π Braves of the Week
2nd Grade: Kynlee Allen
Kynlee is a great friend to others. She has gone above and beyond to learn the routines in our classroom while also working on her Math and Reading skills. We are so thankful that Kynlee is part of our classroom family!
3rd Grade: Sadie Davies
Sadie is such a helpful, funny, and hard-working student. She comes to school each day with a positive attitude and ready to learn. Her curiosity pushes her to explore new ideas and ask insightful questions, and she loves to share her discoveries with those around her. Sheβs also always ready to lend a hand to her classmates and teachers. We are so lucky to have her in our classroom!
4th Grade: Max Rojo-Aguirre
Max is a wonderful student and we are so lucky to have him in our class! He is observant of his surroundings and is caring and understanding with his friends. He is a great example of a BRAVE.
5th Grade: Kylie Rodriguez
Kylie is a hard working and kind 5th grader. She always follows expectations and she tries her best even when the work is hard. She loves to make our class laugh with her jokes and funny sense of humor. Kylie is a great member of our class and I can't wait to see all the growth she will make this year.
