Emerson Update 04/05/24
Principal's Corner
Dear Emerson families,
Spring has finally sprung, and we are all hoping for some warmer weather soon. Our track and field teams are literally off and running as their seasons began this week. The month of April marks the beginning of so many new activities along with the beginning of state testing season.
PSAT
A reminder that there is NO SCHOOL on April 8th for staff professional development day. We will continue to analyze and refine our curriculum and we will take the opportunity to collaborate with our colleagues to ensure the best possible learning environment for our students.
Tuesday, April 9th, is a normal school day and then Wednesday, April 10th will only be a 1/2 day for our 8th graders only. They must be in the building be 8:00 am on Wednesday the 10th so we can start the PSAT test on time. This past Wednesday, we completed our Digital Readiness check in preparation for the test so your student can feel comfortable with the new digital testing format.
For our 7th grade students, Wednesday, April 10th is a Virtual Learning Day.
Prior to April 10th, teachers will share (either in class or through Google Classroom) assignments and learning materials for April 10th. 7th students may be responsible for visiting each of their Google Classrooms to follow up and check for any additional teacher information as it pertains to April 10th assignments and learning materials. Teachers will be available to students during the school day via email and Google Classroom messaging.
Please continue to partner with us as we continue to make Emerson the best positive experience for everyone. It's so rewarding to guide our students as they mature into middle adolescence and help prepare them for that next journey into high school or 8th grade. These last two days we had the opportunity to partner with a terrific organization, Youth Making a Difference, and they shared the dangers of vaping with our 7th and 8th graders. It was an informative presentation for our students and our hope is one that they are able to take with them on their journey into the future.
With Eagle Pride,
Bruce Rivera
Principal
