¿Qué es la conciencia fonológica?
- La conciencia fonológica es la base para aprender a leer.
- Es la habilidad de reconocer y usar los sonidos en el lenguaje hablado.
- La conciencia fonológica incluye a la conciencia fonémica, que es la capacidad de identificar los sonidos que se combinan para formar palabras.
- Escoger palabras que riman.
- Contar el número de sílabas que tiene una palabra.
- Reconocer la repetición de sonidos ("Tres tristes tigres tragaban trigo en un trigal").
- Identificar los sonidos individuales de una palabra: una habilidad llamada conciencia fonémica.

What is phonological awareness?
- Phonological awareness is the foundation for learning to read.
- It’s the ability to recognize and work with sounds in spoken language.
- Phonemic awareness — being able to tune in to the individual sounds in a word — is part of phonological awareness.
Phonological awareness is the foundation for reading. It lets people recognize and work with the sounds of spoken language. That includes:
- Picking out words that rhyme
- Counting the number of syllables in a word
- Noticing sound repetition (“Susie sold six salami sandwiches”)
- Being aware of the individual sounds in a word — a skill called phonemic awareness
