All students and staff will have the opportunity to take pictures on Friday, October 4th here at RICA. All students will need to take a picture so they can receive an ID card. MCPS is requiring all students to have a ID card on them at all times when they are in school.

The PSAT is a test for sophomore students to get experience and practice before taking the SAT as juniors and seniors. As a part of a MCPS initiative, RICA will host PSAT Day on Wednesday, October 16.

• October 15th- Edison Presentation at lunch for High school students
• October 16th- PSAT Day for 10th grade students
• October 17th- Bowie State Univ College Tour for 12th Grade students
• October 18th - Professional Development Day for Teacher- No school for students
• October 31st- Fall in Love with Reading- Dress up like your favorite book character

What's Happening in our Classes?

Students in English and Math classes have been completing the MAP testing the last two weeks in September. Students have been doing an awesome job in completing the test and showing great baseline scores. We are excited about the growth we will see during our Winter administration.

The senior class meeting was held on October 1st and the class made a commitment to graduate and planned some great activities and events the year.

MCPS is reviewing the current cell phone use in schools due to so many issues occuring over social media causing unsafe situations in schools. At this time all day students can have phones and resident students who attend Edison can have their phone when they leave but must return them when they arrive back to RICA. We know many issues we have had at school have had a social media involvement as well as may record incidents that have occured at school. At this time we will be starting focus groups with students, families and staff about the cell phone use in school and looking to begin a new cell phone policy during the 25-26 school year.
