New Albany High School
Bi-weekly Update - August 4, 2024
Welcome from Dr. Russell
We hope that everyone had a relaxing summer. We are excited to welcome our students and families to the 2024-2025 school year! New Albany-Plain Local School District is one of the premier districts in Ohio because of our students, parents, staff, and community. Our commitment to supporting student achievement, growth, and well-being creates an environment where each student achieves their best academic and developmental outcomes.
We take pride in our school community, focused on creating a strong sense of belonging through kindness, dignity, and respect. We will continue to create an environment that is safe, supportive, and connected by rising up and owning our actions, being stronger together, and better every day.
We challenge each student to get involved and explore the many opportunities at New Albany High School. We have over 250 course offerings, 50 student clubs, and 29 interscholastic sports that cover a wide range of student interests. As we venture into this school year, remember that each day is a fresh opportunity to learn and explore.
Thank you for being part of our community and our school. We look forward to an excellent school year.
Rob Russell, Ed.D.
Principal

New Student Orientation
New Student Orientation will be held on Thursday, August 8, from 10:00 am-12:00 pm. This program is for new students in the district in grades 9-12. This is an opportunity to learn about the school, community, and culture of New Albany High School before the start of the school year. We look forward to seeing new students to the district on Thursday, August 8. The program will be held in the High School Mini-Theater.
Open House - Friday, August 16
Open House will be Friday, August 16 from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm. This is an opportunity for students and families to walk the hallways, meet our teachers, and become familiar with the school building before the first day of school. The tour of the building is self-paced and families may arrive at any time between 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm.
Breakfast and Lunch Prices Remain the Same
Breakfast and lunch will still be available to all students; however, they will not be free to all students. This means that families will need to complete the Free and Reduced-price Family Application to qualify for free or reduced-price meals. Students who do not qualify for free or reduced-price meals must pay full price for breakfast and lunch.
Breakfast - $1.50
Lunch - $2.75/$3.50
12th Grade Immunization Compliance
Proof of your meningococcal (MCV4) vaccine was due prior to the start of 12th grade. Failure to provide your updated immunization record prior to September 5th will result in exclusion from school. Please reach out to the high school nurse Martha Bohman if you have any questions and send all vaccine records to bohman.5@napls.us or fax to 614-413-8301.
School and College Counseling Team
To create a better balance and best support our students, counseling alphabet responsibilities have shifted for incoming 9th-grade students only. No changes will be made for grades 10-12 for the 2024-2025 school year, as we want to maintain the established relationships with families and students. We look forward to this change, as it best serves the needs of our students. Please see the breakdown below:

Meet Anna Shaffer, School and College Counselor (D-Hi, 9th Grade D-J)
Hello! My name is Anna Shaffer and I’m excited to be the newest member of the school counseling team at New Albany High School! I earned my undergraduate degree in Hearing, Speech and Language Science from Ohio University and my Master’s of Education in School Counseling from the University of Dayton. As I look forward to my ninth year as a high school counselor, I’m eager to get to know the NAHS students, help them reach their personal, academic, and career goals, and advocate for their success in and out of the classroom. I will also be traveling to Eastland and Fairfield Career Centers throughout the school year to support our students on those campuses. Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have now, and throughout the school year. Enjoy the remainder of your summer!
