Message To Parents From Our Executive Headteacher
Dear Parent/Carer,
We have come to the end of a very busy and successful term and Christmas will soon be upon us. We should be very proud of what we have achieved together as a community: staff, pupils, parents/carers and governors.
We continue to develop our School Federation with its mission to bring all pupils to the fullness of life through our Catholic faith and our school values. This means that we work incredibly hard to ensure all pupils are supported to achieve their academic potential whilst being provided with opportunities to demonstrate their faith and school values in action by serving others. That is why it has been wonderful to see our children play an active role in all aspects of school life this term. Pupils have taken part in liturgies, acts of worship, fund raising and charity events, school trips, school concerts, and community and social activities.
It has also been wonderful to be able to welcome so many parents, carers, and visitors to our schools, especially in recent weeks during the Season of Advent. A particular highlight for me has been the Nativity plays and Carol concerts; watching our children perform and sing with such confidence was a real privilege. Well done to all involved! These plays/concerts really started the festivities and reminded us of the true meaning of Christmas. The recent Christmas fayres organised by our parent volunteers, allowed us to bring so many families and friends in our community together. I was delighted to see such overwhelming support for this. To everyone that made this happen, thank you.
I would finally like to thank you as parents and carers for all you have done to support your child in school this term. I thank you personally for your continued support to me and I wish you and your loved ones Godβs blessing this Christmas and good health and happiness for 2025.
Kindest regards,
Geraldine Hampton
Executive Headteacher
Attendance
Our whole school attendance is currently at 94.1%
We are working towards achieving 96% attendance this academic year. Please help us to achieve this by ensuring that your child attends school each day and by not booking any holiday during term time. Please be aware that holiday leave in term time cannot be authorised.
In line with the Department for Education guidelines, where pupils miss school without a good reason (including a holiday), the Local Authority and schools can intervene, and you may be issued a fine.
There is strong correlation between good attendance and good progress. So together, letβs give our children the best possible chance of reaching their potential.
Christmas Fair
Christmas Lunch
We had a very jolly Christmas lunch last week! The festive spirit was in full swing with a lovely Christmas roast, Christmas jumpers, singing, crackers and lots of laughter! Thank you to the staff who prepared the delicious lunch - we loved it! We also raised money for Save the Children by wearing our Christmas jumpers! It's beginning to look at lot like Christmas!
Nativity
Nursery and Reception presented such a wonderful Nativity play! They spoke and sang beautifully to share the story of the birth of Jesus. Well done to everyone involved! Mums and dads were very proud!
KS1 Christmas Show
Remembering the message of Christmas is so important and KS1 children made sure this was shared with the whole school community including mums and dads through their Christmas show. What a wonderful event!
KS2 Christmas Show
The children of Years 3 and 4 treated us to an amazing production retelling the Christmas story. The acting and singing were superb. We are so proud of you all. Well done!
Carol Concert
Our carol concert is a key part of the Christmas celebrations at St Charles. This year was no different. Children in KS1 help to provide a wonderful visual representation of the Nativity, while our Chaplains read passages telling the wonderful story of Jesus' birth.
Toy Bus Appeal
Everyone was so excited to receive a special wrapped Christmas present today. Huge thanks to the Family Action Charity and their Toy Appeal Bus who delivered such Christmas joy to our children and families. Thank you also to all the elves in different organisations who donated, wrapped and labelled the gifts.
The Children's Book Project
A huge thank you to The Children's Book Project! Our Reception children absolutely loved picking out their books to take home for Christmas from the pop-up book shop. ππ It was a truly delightful experience!
Thanks to The Children's Book Project for bringing the joy of reading to Year Two this Christmas! The children were very excited to pick out books to take home for some holiday reading
Wishing our whole school community a joyful, holy and peaceful Christmas and a wonderful New Year. We look forward to seeing everyone back on 7th January 2025. Best wishes from everyone at St Charles.
