Gear Up is like the optional "Jumpstart" that many of our students participated in last year. Although it is still optional, instead of assessments, we will be having students move through four STEM stations that peak their curiosity and are a lot of fun! Your child(ren) will have the opportunity to work with their peers and meet the teachers that are participating in their grade levels, while getting them excited about the upcoming school year. It is sure to be a lot of fun!! Hope to see your children there!

Gear Up will run each day from 8:30 am - 12:00 pm. Students will be dropped off at the front door like morning car line and will be picked up in the car line as well. We will be providing a snack each day for the students. Free lunch is still offered in our cafeteria each day. The menu for the Gear Up week is below. If you would like your child to eat on their day, please park in the gym or lower lot and walk up to get your child and take them to lunch.

We look forward to having your child on their designated grade level day!!

Meet the Teacher - Wednesday, August 14th, from 2:00-4:00 PM

Students and their families are invited to come to this drop in event to meet their teacher and see their new classroom!

Open House - Tuesday, September 17th, at 5:30 pm

We will meet in the gym at 5:30 pm for a 30 minute whole school meeting. We will be giving away prizes and will have an option for a meal. More info. to be announced soon!

Last year, we were able to let families know who their child's teacher was the week of July 24th. This year, our PowerSchool Information system is no longer active and our new system we are learning, Infinite Campus, won't be ready to input students into classrooms until the end of the month. We are hoping to let families know around Wednesday, July 31- Friday, August 2nd. I will keep you posted! Thank you for your patience as we navigate this new system that houses all of the information for our students and their families.

Do you own a business or know a business that would want to help?

Our goal by the beginning of school is to get enough sponsors to purchase t-shirts for all of our students this year! The business logo or name will appear on the back of all 550 t-shirts-- that's great advertisement!! We hope to wear the t-shirts throughout the year for different events, including field trips. Thanks for sharing this opportunity with your friends and family!! Copies of the form above will be in the office to fill out, or you can download it from the newsletter and bring it in. A Message from our librarian, Mrs. Haas:

Next Tuesday’s Summer Library Program features STEM activities centered around the story of The Three Billy Goats Gruff. Join us for hands-on learning: engineer a Goat Boat, experiment with a game of “sink or float”, and stir up creativity to solve challenges with Legos, Playdough, Magnetic Tiles and other exciting science, technology, engineering and math manipulatives. You won’t want to miss the last few weeks of Storybook STEM at your BES Library!

Our first PTO meeting of the year will be on Thursday, August 22nd at 9 am in the school auditorium. We will be alternating between morning and afternoon meetings in hopes that all families will have a chance to attend the quarterly meetings. Notes from each meeting will be shared on the parent newsletter, along with any other pertinent PTO information. Our PTO did an amazing job last year and we look forward to another great year in 24-25! One thing some parents mentioned in our school survey is to have some PTO meetings and to share more about what PTO is purchasing and doing. That is our plans for this coming year--- super excited!!
