MSU Business Lecture Tour Comes to WFISD High Schools
Dean Jeff Stambaugh from the MSU Dillard College of Business Administration engaged in discussions with WFISD Business, Marketing and Finance and Personal Financial Literacy classes this week. During the session, students were exposed to negotiation strategies and techniques illustrated through examples from a Shark Tank episode. Stambaugh inaugurated the 2nd Annual MSU Business Lecture Tour, a series facilitated by the MSU Dillard College of Business Administration. The lecture tour will continue throughout the spring semester. Professors involved in the tour provide students with timely and relevant knowledge across various business topics, enriching their understanding and adding value whether they have plans to pursue higher education or embark on entrepreneurial ventures.
Fain 3rd Graders Perform Play for Kindergartners
Mrs. Marsh's 3rd Grade English class at Fain Elementary presented their rendition of the King Midas play to the Fain kindergarten classes this week. Throughout the performance, they gained insights into the various components of drama, including setting, props, and characters. The 3rd graders themselves were responsible for creating the props used in the play.
Christmas Fun at Kirby
The staff at Kirby Middle School kicked off Winter Break and celebrated Christmas with a luncheon provided by Kirby principal Del Hardaway. Thank you, Mr. Hardaway!
Rider High School Chili and Soup Cook Off
On December 15, the Rider High School staff held their final Chili and Soup Cook Off. The top photo on the left features the top 3 winners in the Chili category. The top photo on the right features the top 3 winners in the Soup category. While all of the recipes were delicious, Dr. Troy Farris was the Chili Champion, and Zac Jackson was the Soup Champion. The bottom photo features the celebrity judges for the contest.
WFISD Foundation Scholarship Applications Now Open!
The WFISD Foundation is thrilled to announce that Class of 2024 scholarship applications for WFISD seniors are NOW OPEN! We have a new scholarship platform this year that we hope students find convenient and user-friendly. This new software will allow students to complete a short questionnaire that will then list all scholarships they are eligible to apply for. Students will also be able to save their progress as they go. The WFISD Foundation expects to award around $85,000 in scholarships this year. Clink on the link here to get started now!
Sheppard Cafeteria Staff Brings the Christmas Cheer!
Before Winter Break, the Sheppard Elementary cafeteria staff used their funds to purchase gingerbread house materials for Sheppard students. In all, more than 40 students were able to create and decorate a gingerbread house to take home over the break.
January is School Board Appreciation Month!
January is School Board Recognition Month. Each year, we take this month to recognize the hard work and volunteer hours that our school board members dedicate to WFISD. This year's TASB School Board Recognition theme is "Locally Elected, Community Connected."

Back to School, Back to Fun at Franklin Elementary!
For the first couple of days back after winter break, Music, Art, and PE classes all met in the gym for some rhythmic fun! Students did musical routines, played games with a giant parachute, and learned how to combine dance and rhythm sounds with basketballs.
Booker T. Washington Students Rocking Amplify Curriculum Challenges
On the third day back at school after the break, students at Booker T. Washington were already rocking! They were challenged to write three questions, one per sticky note, then place them on the board randomly. They then chose three random notes to answer. "I am so proud of how they took to this and just jumped in," said teacher Alexandra Fain. The lesson is part of the Amplify Curriculum Unit 5: Light and Sound.
The WFISD Foundation is Seeking Golfers!
The WFISD Foundation is thrilled to announce that we will be hosting our FIRST EVER golf tournament and fundraising event! The golf tournament will be held at Next Level Golf on February 8-10. This will be a four person scramble. There are a variety of tee times available to choose from that best meet your schedule. Registration starts at $50 per person. VIP Registration experiences available! A $10,000 Hole In One Contest will also be held. All money raised will help provide grants for teachers and scholarships for students!
