The Prowler
Week of December 9-13, 2024
From Mr. Moreno's Desk:
Teachers, Staff, Parents, and Students,
RHMS administration hopes all our students and their families had a wonderful and restful Thanksgiving break! It's been a great week back, and students only have nine remaining school days before starting their Christmas holiday break.
This week marks the beginning of week three of the 3rd Six Weeks. It is a very important week as all students will be administered their Fall 2024 benchmark assessments in all tested grades and tested subjects. The test will be comprised of all the skills students have been taught up to this point in the year. The benchmark tests will provide us with valuable data to guide our next steps in preparing students well for the STAAR assessments that will be administered in the Spring.
Parents...Please ensure that your child gets plenty of rest in preparation for the upcoming week of tests. A well-rested mind will help them perform their best!
Teachers...Please be reminded that you must actively monitor your students at all times during the duration of the testing as we will be adhering to STAAR protocols. Be advised we have a two-day turn around to ensure all data is reflected on DMAC.
Students...Please try your best on your Fall 2024 benchmark assessments, as they will help us determine any areas where remediation may be needed. Your effort will make a big difference!
Christmas dress up activities will continue throughout the week. Please refer to the activity calendar included in "The Prowler" for specific daily activities.
Keep abreast of all the great things happening at RHMS via our weekly newsletter, THE PROWLER! #WeAreBobcats #OurKidsAreGreat

RHMS Science Students Work on Landscaping
RHMS Science students have been helping to upkeep the landscaping in the back area of the school. Last year with the assistance of Jaime Flores, TWRI Project Manager, and Mike Heep, a native plant expert, students planted a total of 1,500 native plants. The landscaped area will serve as an outdoor classroom for the middle school. Interpretive signage will be installed with information about the native plants, stormwater runoff and nonpoint source pollution prevention in the near future. Science teachers will be able to utilize the area and the signage to teach the students about native plant identification, butterflies and hummingbirds that are attracted to the native plants, the water cycle, photosynthesis, earth science, and how to care for and appreciate the native plants.
Mrs. Walls's Lunch Group Project
These pictures are from Mrs. Walls's lunch group project. Students practiced reading, following a recipe, mixtures (Science), team work, and got to work with cafeteria staff. They also followed sanitation and cafeteria procedures by wearing hair nets, washing hands, and wearing gloves. To show appreciation and kindness, they gave a cookie to a friend and/or a teacher. Cookie sample and recipe was provided by Sofia Flores' mom (Ms. Crystal Flores).

RHMS 8th Grade Lady Bobcats "Senior Night"
Message from Coach Alvarado:
To our 8th graders: this is a bittersweet moment. We’ve had the privilege of seeing you
grow not only as athletes but also as leaders, role models, and friends. You've paved the
way for the younger players, and your hard work will continue to inspire them long after
you’ve moved on to high school.
As you head into high school next year, remember that this is just the beginning. There will
be new challenges, new teammates, and new opportunities, but I have no doubt that you
are all ready for what comes next. Keep pushing yourselves, continue to work hard, and
most importantly, always support each other—because no matter what team you’re on,
the bonds you’ve created here will last a lifetime.
We wish you nothing but success in high school, both on and off the court. You have bright
futures ahead of you, and we can’t wait to see all that you accomplish.
Thank you for everything you’ve contributed to this team, and best of luck in the years to
come.

“Too often, we’re holding on to hurts, disappointments, things we don’t understand. This poisons our attitude, takes our passion, makes us negative and critical. You have to let it go. Quit going back to it. It’s over and done. Move forward.” @JoelOsteen
#ThoughtForTheDay...How we “show up” matters. It matters a lot. How we see ourselves in those moments also matters, even more so when we recognize we won’t always “be ready” but are willing to give it our best shot regardless. #LiveYourExcellence
