"Unlock the Treasure in Every Child" - July 29, 2024
Welcome to the Crew!
Ms. Rachel Groves - 2nd Grade
My name is Rachel Groves and I have been teaching since 2022. I have lived in Georgia, New Mexico, and South Carolina. I moved to North Carolina in 2023. I graduated from New Mexico State University with a degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Linguistics. Before joining the Buckhorn Creek Elementary School staff, I taught 1st Grade at Joyner Magnet Elementary in Raleigh. My husband and I enjoy hiking, playing disc golf, and baking! I also love to read and jam out to good music.
Ms. DeAnna Giovacchini - 2nd Grade
Hi, my name is DeAnna Giovacchini and I am a UNC Charlotte graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre and multiple years of Elementary Education experience. I grew up in Holly Springs and have always considered it my home. Growing up, I got the opportunity to travel Europe with my family while my dad was stationed in Naples, Italy. During that time, I became well-rounded in various cultures and found a passion for traveling and discovery. After graduating from college, I worked at Walt Disney World for two years, in Entertainment Costuming and Merchandise, spreading magic along the way. My favorite movies are The Little Mermaid, The Incredibles, and Luca. In my free time, I love acting, baking, sewing, playing games with my family, and traveling. I am very excited to start this adventure with everyone and explore the new school year together!
Ms. Jami Morse - 3rd Grade
Hello! My name is Jami Morse and I’ve been teaching since 2007. I am originally from Vermont but have called North Carolina home now for almost 18 years. In my early years, I was a preschool teacher. I graduated in 2007 with my Early Childhood Education degree. However, after having my son Theo in 2020, I chose to pursue my Bachelors of Education. I was an Instructional Assistant here at Buckhorn Creek for 3 years before now transitioning into a teaching position. I enjoy spending time with friends and family, visiting the beach or mountains and most of all watching my son learn and grow.

Carpool Procedures!
Please take a moment to learn about how our carpool operates!
Carpool Safety!
Safety and Carpool
This year we will require that any student being dismissed through carpool have a Buckhorn Creek Carpool tag.
We will not call students by name. Cars without a Buckhorn Creek issued Carpool tag will be required to pull forward, show ID, and we will verify that students can be released to the person picking them up. You will need to add anyone that is allowed to pick up your child to the emergency contacts during Meet the Teacher.
Please make sure you have your carpool tag or have requested additional carpool tags before the first day of school. You may do so during our Forms Day on August 6-8th.
Families who are walkers!
In order to increase the safety for our students, we are going to ask that families that walk to make a few adjustments and adhere to the following:
Please do NOT enter the playground until 3:40 and exit the playground by 4:00. Having additional people on campus during a busy time, such as dismissal, increases safety concerns. In additional, the facilities are rented by After School programs and are not open to public use.
We are also asking families to please refrain from bringing your pets with you during arrival and dismissal. Health concerns may make animal contact inappropriate for some children. In addition, even the best trained animal can be unpredictable and cause injuries.
We appreciate your continued support and understanding.

Meet the Teacher!
We have worked with the other Holly Springs and Fuquay Schools to align our Meet the Teachers to provide families in multiple schools. The alignment will assist families with students in multiple levels.
Students will be able to bring materials to their classroom during meet the teacher.
Change!!! An email will be sent to families on August 19th with class assignments. The original plan was for teachers to call families. However, due to the limited time emails will be sent to provide teachers additional time to prepare their classrooms.
Stock the House!
We are excited to expand our global connections once again this coming school year as we welcome back Ms. Jo-Anne Robinson-Tiffin from the UK and to welcome for the first time Ms. Julie Nyuama from Kenya! We are expecting them both to arrive in early August!
As they begin planning their moves, we are looking for ways to help them get established. Like our other teachers from abroad, they will arrive with just 2 simple suitcases. Thus, we want to provide as much support as possible. If you happen to have an extra set of pots and pans, dishes, silverware, or any other kitchen items in your house that you no longer need, please drop it off to the Buckhorn Creek office. We will also be looking for any living room furniture, dressers, etc. Anything you have in your home...they will need!
We have some items from left from past teachers that have moved back to the UK, but not nearly enough to stock two apartments.
