News from Mr. Hartmann . . .
The 2023-2024 academic year has been an incredible journey filled with memorable moments, academic milestones, and personal growth for our students. From the first day of school to the recent end-of-year festivities, it has been a joy to witness the progress and achievements of each and every child in our care. As a school community, we have overcome challenges, celebrated successes, and worked together to create a nurturing and supportive environment for all.
A few highlights are below:
- Implemented a Tier 1 Social Emotional Curriculum K-12. Character Strong has provided our school common language discussion points explore.
- Implemented Math Expressions K-5 for all students. Staff and students learned new language and were stretched as learners and teachers.
- Continued to refine our problem-solving process and our intervention structure. We continue to calibrate our tier 1 literacy instruction and respond to students learning within and outside of the classroom.

Final SOAR Celebration
End of an "EYE"ra....
764 people will see more clearly this summer because of the donated eyeglasses sent to us by you. The effort in getting your eyeglasses to us is very much appreciated.
...and so ends an "eye"ra here for me at Centennial of helping others to see this amazing world more clearly-
After 31 years of collecting eyeglasses, I am venturing off to "see" the world in a new and different way.
This project was successful because of YOU! If you come across old eyeglasses, find a way to get them to those that need them. It's a small thing that makes a big difference! THANK YOU!
May your life be filled with peace, good health, and happiness,
Curt Gutbrod & Grade 5 Class

Help Students in the New School Year!
Backpack Adopters Needed
Help ensure all Centennial students are ready for back-to-school in the fall. Adopt a backpack! The cost for supplies ranges from $50-$100 or make a monetary donation here. This community program is operated through Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in collaboration with the schools. More information can be found at centennialbackpack.org.
Donations Needed for PowerPack Food Program
Thank you to all who supported the Powerpack program this school year! The program provides a weekend bag of breakfast items, individual meals, and snacks for school-age children (K-12) in all of our schools. Powerpack is run by volunteers and relies solely on food and monetary donations. You can contribute here or contact Powerpack at powerpackdistrict12@gmail.com. Learn more about the program here.
Summer EBT Benefit
In summer 2024, families who were approved for educational benefits for the 2023-2024 school year may receive $120 for each eligible school-aged child to buy groceries when school is out through a new program through the United States Department of Agriculture. Most families receiving benefits this school year will receive the Summer EBT funds automatically, but some parents will need to apply. See the Centennial website for more information. (I will link from this to the new page on the website once the website copy is approved.)
