From the Nurses' Office
Hello, Claymont families!
It is very important to supply the office with inhalers and EpiPens as prescribed to your child. These life-saving medications are important to have on-hand in an emergency, particularly as seasons are changing and field trips are being scheduled!
All state required screenings will be starting next week, October 14th and completed by early January.
As we are coming into flu season, please remember to keep your child home if they have a fever of 100.4 or greater, vomiting, or diarrhea. Flu vaccines are now available at most clinics and pharmacies!
Additionally, a friendly reminder to please return the green Emergency Card if you haven’t already. Extra blank cards are available in the nurses’ office if you need one.
Thank you, happy fall!
Dr. Joe and Nurse Kelley
Is Your Student a Car Rider?
If you are arriving in a car to drop off or pick up your student, they are a car rider. Please make sure that for safety and clear alignment with our building expectations we are communicating clearly and effectively with our students. There have been a lot students who indicate they are walkers, but who are waiting in the front for their parent and are being picked up in a car. We want students to get home efficiently, but our primary focus is SAFETY! Please assist us with ensuring student safety and assist us in modeling following expectations by joining our car line!
Safety is Our Priority
Parents, parking and releasing your students on Green Street, the surrounding streets, or in the front parking lot is NOT permitted. This is a HUGE safety hazard! Our buses park in the front of our building and dropping your student off there puts them in grave danger, especially when you get out of the car and tell them to do something different from the adults on duty. Additionally, we want to be respectful to our surrounding community and your neighbors by following our systems for dismissal and arrival.
If your student arrives or gets picked up from school via car, utilize the car line. If we see this happening at dismissal you will be asked by staff to please go to the car line. Your student will be at the car line door for pick up.
Did you know that missing just two days per month means a child misses 10% of the school year!? Early dismissals and late arrivals count too😱 and after 8:55 a.m. your student is officially tardy.
Please help us help your student by ensuring they are in the building available for learning each and every day!
Connect with Us on Facebook
We have a NEW Claymont Elementary School Facebook page! Make sure you like and follow so that you can stay up to date and see all of the amazing things happening within our wall and our community! Check The Lost and Found
If you have students who are coming home without items please tell them to check the lost and found. We are seeing the lost and found continue to grow with many things we know students need. Best practice is to place your student's name on his/her items.
Please come get your items
Lost and Found
If your student has lost an item this school year, please take a moment to have them come and check the lost and found. Parents are welcome to accompany their students during arrival and dismissal to check for lost items. Unfortunately, the lost and found is not open to families during the school day. All items were put out during parent-teacher conferences, so if you can in person, our hope was that you had a chance to look through things.
Given the volume of items and the upcoming weather change, we are going to be donating the items that are left to the Goodwill on Philadelphia Pike by Friday, November 1st.
