KEY NEWS FOR EXPLORER FAMILIES
Shining Bright! There is always a new level of energy that comes with the first week of school. This week has been full of students and staff sharing expectations, practicing routines, jumping into new topics, listening to stories, running and sweating on the playground, and meeting new friends and seeing old ones. Ask your students all about PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) and how they can earn gold slips for being respectful, responsible, and engaged. What a joy it has been to have filled these halls with the energy, inquisitiveness and thoughtfulness of our students.
I am happy to report that as of today, our 2024 school year enrollment is in line with the district’s projections. Things can always change; however, our current class sizes and grade level enrollment are solid. The district will continue to monitor our attendance through the end of next week (known as the 10-day count).
Recent legislation in Georgia has emphasized literacy in schools. Please click the link below for the parent notification letter from Fulton County Schools that outlines the impact of the legislation and how schools will proceed with screening processes.
Something that has become important to me, as well as our staff, is the Northwood Nice Note. We have a staff newsletter that goes out on Fridays with various dates, updates, important info, etc. Two years ago I started sharing kind words from our Northwood families in a section of that newsletter. If you have just a few moments to send in a N3 (Northwood Nice Note) click the link below. The link will stay active all year so submissions will be continual. It’s a quick, easy way to send a little sunshine. I've also included the link here.
With gratitude,
Heather Q. Rucker, principal

PRE-APPROVED ABSENCE FORM
Pre-Approved Absence Request Form

OUR CLINIC CLOSET NEEDS CLOTHES
Accidents happen - in the classroom, at recess, at lunch or the bathroom. When our Explorers get messy they often head to the Clinic to get cleaned up. We keep extra clothes on hand for those quick changes. Our clinic closet is in need of boys underwear as well as girls and boys bottoms, but we appreciate all donations. If you have any clothing items you'd like to contribute you can send them in with your student or drop them off at the front desk. Thanks!
VOLUNTEER REGISTRATION
Looking to volunteer? All volunteers will need to complete the Fulton County Schools online registration process. For more information and to begin the process, please click the link below.
Important Information for Second Grade Families
Per District policy, ALL second-grade families are required to provide the school with 2 proofs of residency before entering second grade. Copies can be dropped off at the front desk or emailed to our Data Clerk, Amy Dulion, at dulionaw@fultonschools.org.
