Thank you for understanding and support. We appreciate your partnership in creating a positive and successful learning environment for all our students.
STAAR TESTING
STAAR testing is scheduled for April 10, 16 and 23.
On April 10th, 16th, and 23rd, our campus will be closed for STAAR testing. These testing days are crucial for our students, and ensuring test security and confidentiality is of utmost importance. By having a closed campus, we can create an environment that allows our students to focus and perform to the best of their abilities. Please mark these dates on your calendar and make any necessary arrangements to support your child's success during this testing period.
Parents, we ask that you schedule all Dr. Appointments outside of these three days, when possible. Students who leave for an appointment, cannot reenter the test, and will receive a score based on their completion. For this reason, I ask that you please contact Dr. Barragan at elizabeth.barragan@killeenisd.org to receive further guidance, if your child has an appointment scheduled for a testing day.
Electronics During testing:
- Cell phones and personal electronic devices are not allowed in the testing environment
- All student electronics, to include cell phones, earbuds, iWatches, tracking devices, etc. need to be POWERED OFF and turned in to the teacher prior to testing.
- Teachers will receive a bag to place all electronic devices. Items will be locked up during the test. once Testing is completed for the day, students devices will be returned.
- Failure to turn in any device will be considered insubordination and require a disciplinary referral.

From our Counselors
Each year, April is set aside as a military child appreciation month, officially known as the Month of the Military Child. With its creation in the mid-1980s, the Pentagon and other military support organizations and agencies use the month to recognize military kids for their sacrifice and bravery on the homefront. There are more than 1.6 million military children who face many challenges and unique experiences as a result of their parents' service. Military families move on average every two to three years.
Throughout April, we at Cavazos Elementary School will recognize and celebrate our military connected students with a variety of activities. Much like their parents/guardians, military connected students make sacrifices, such as moving, changing schools, leaving friends behind, and working harder to fill in any gaps in their learning.
