Message From Principal Heard
Hello Trailblazers!
As we enjoy this three-day weekend, let us take a moment to reflect on the true meaning of Memorial Day.
Memorial Day is a time to honor and remember the brave men and women of the United States Military who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. These heroes gave their lives to protect the freedoms we enjoy every day.
While this long weekend offers a chance to rest and spend time with loved ones, it is also an opportunity to pause and express our gratitude. Let us remember the courage and dedication of those who served, and say thank you to the military families and veterans in our community.
Wishing you a safe and meaningful Memorial Day weekend.
Warmly,
Principal Heard

TK Sunshine Squad - Starting Fall 2025
We are excited to announce a new leadership opportunity at Stone Ranch for the 25-26 school year. We are looking for rising 5th grade students to serve as buddies for our incoming TK students. As a member of the TK Sunshine Squad, you will meet and greet your TK buddy group in the morning before school and help them eat breakfast, make friends, and safely line up for class. You will build memories while mentoring some of the most adorable kids on campus.
Sound like something you'd like to do? Please fill out this interest form. The interest form application will remain open until May 30th.
Calling All Girl Scouts or Boy Scouts!
We are looking for a girl or boy scout interested in completing a project on campus. We want to remove some shrubs and create a "Zen Garden" space outside our F building. Please reach out to Principal Heard at theard@powayusd.com if you are interested in helping us make our campus even more beautiful!
TK & Kindergarten Information Night
Calling all incoming TK and Kindergarten parents. Stone Ranch is hosting an informational night on Wednesday, May 28th. See the attached flyer for details.
Hope to see you there!
Sheriff for the Day Contest
On Thursday, May 22nd, we were visited by many guests from the 4S Ranch Sheriff's office. They recognized 4 Stone Ranch students who submitted an application to be the Sheriff for the day. Each applicant stood out amongst the 40 member applicant pool. We want to congratulate Vihaan Uttamchandani, Nolan Smith, and Ketav Srivastava for their submission. They each received a gift from our local Sheriff's office.
In addition, one student - Ashwin Sunaresan, was selected to be the first ever Sheriff for the Day! He was sworn in on campus and then left to spend the day learning how to be a public servant!
Planning for the 25-26 School Year
We are beginning the process of planning for the 25-26 school year. Principal Heard will work closely with grade level teams and our Special Education department to thoughtfully develop class lists. We take great care to consider a multitude of factors when developing our class placements. Classes are balanced on several criteria including but not limited to academic performance, learning needs, social-emotional dynamics, and peer relationships.
As mentioned above, there are several factors that go into intentionally placing each student to find their best learning environment. Therefore, we do not take parent requests for class changes, teacher assignments, or placement with specific peers.
Parents will be notified of their child's new teacher when we return in August.
Fall ESS Interest Application - Now Open!
The Fall 2025 ESS Interest Application opened last week on Tuesday, April 22. It will remain open through Friday, June 6. All interested families may apply at any time during this initial application window. There is no advantage or disadvantage to applying earlier or later within this period, as all applications will be processed simultaneously.
Parents are encouraged to wait patiently until their child's enrollment has been completed by the school site and they have received access to their ParentVUE account before attempting to use the ESS Application Management System.
Families who apply during the initial application window will be notified on June 13 whether their student has been offered a placement in the ESS program for the 2025–26 school year or if their student has been placed on the waitlist.
If you have any questions about ESS enrollment, please email enrollment-ess@powayusd.com.

Digital Citizenship: Helping Children Build Safe Digital Habits
Protecting personal information is a critical part of helping children build safe and responsible digital habits. Setting strong privacy controls on apps, devices, and accounts helps safeguard your child’s data and limits unwanted access. It is also important to talk with your child about why privacy matters—helping them understand how to manage their own settings and make thoughtful choices online. By staying informed and setting up privacy protections together, we can teach students to take ownership of their digital safety and build a foundation for lifelong responsible technology use.
