Dear Students & Families,
It is November and the snow is finally falling in preparation for ski season. Winter sports begin next week; seniors have had their first major early application deadline (Nov 1); and we have myriad students participating in theater performances; and we had a really successful Aviation event Monday evening where we heard from Kate Short and AFA. We are excited for our First Gen lunch for students & staff this Friday. And, we look forward to honoring our Veterans on Monday, November 11th at the Veterans’ Day Assembly. As a reminder, we only have 12 school days left until our Thanksgiving break, so keep up the hard work with all of your classes!
Midterm Grades
Semester 1 Midterm grade reports have been posted to student Powerschool accounts under "Student Reports." Please note that students and parents will need to log in to PowerSchool via a web browser to access the Mid-term grade report. However, grades and attendance information are always available via the PowerSchool app.
First Gen Lunch THIS FRIDAY!!
Mark your calendars: New Parent & Family Night
Please join us for a meet and greet, plus Q&A, on Monday, November 11th at 5:30pm, IN PERSON, at AHS! This event is for anyone who has a 9th grade student or a new student at AHS. Come meet other new parents & families and get all of your questions answered. This event is for parents & families, not for students.
IB Spotlight
Did you know that AHS offers an IB DP course, Spanish Literature, for juniors and seniors fluent in Spanish? In this course students are studying the relationships between readers, writers and texts, the range and functions of texts across geographical space and historical time, and the aspects of intertextuality. Their first text was a memoir by Cristina Rivera Garza, El invencible verano de Liliana. Their next text is a play by Federico García Lorca, La casa de Bernarda Alba.
IB DP Exam Fees- This only applies to 11th & 12th students testing in May 2025
We are returning to our pre-Covid practice of assessing fees for IB Enrollments.
Please accept our sincere apologies for any confusion or stress that our communications surrounding these fees have caused.
ASD will cover the cost of all IB Language & Literature fees because we require this course for graduation.
We realize that this has come as a surprise to many people, but there is an option to check the box to indicate that you want ASD to cover all of the fees.
Here is the form.

Seniors!! Class of 2024!!
The yearbook aims to provide a variety of senior coverage and there are certain traditions that we plan to continue this year, including senior portraits. Senior portraits are an opportunity for seniors to move away from the traditional school photo and submit their own photo to the yearbook. These must be vertical portrait-style photos. Many local photographers can be hired for this purpose, but it is not necessary. If your student would like to work with our photography team, please do not hesitate to reach out and we will set them up with a student photographer.
Seniors also select a quote to place under their photo in the yearbook. The quote must be school appropriate and short enough to fit under their photo.
Senior photos and quotes will be due on December 1.
To submit Senior photos, email the jpg file to yearbookphotos81611@gmail.com.
Please include the quote in the email as well.
Additionally, Senior Recognition Ads are on sale now. If you have a senior you would like to recognize, please use this link.
Travel Opportunity!! Ecuador!!
Students, join Kate Korn & Cory Parker for an adventure! They are really excited to share that they are planning another EF tour trip next summer, 2025... to Ecuador!
When students travel, they expand their knowledge of the world around them, discover more about themselves, and grow more confident. These skills are critical for creating the global citizens of tomorrow, and we would love to have your student join us on this adventure.
There are limited spots on this trip. Contact Kate Korn at kkorn@aspenk12.net, to learn more about this exciting opportunity!

Students must be a minimum of 14 years and 6 months at the start of the course and be in attendance for all 30 hours in order to pass the class on time.
