Greetings from Mr. Kueker
As we quickly approach the end of the 2024–2025 school year, we are excited to share the many wonderful events and celebrations happening at Western Trails.
This week, our second grade students will take the stage to perform Lemonade, a delightful musical they've been working hard to prepare. We are so proud of their dedication and can't wait to enjoy their performance!
Our fifth grade students are also preparing for important milestones. Their D.A.R.E. graduation will take place on May 21 at Jay Stream, where they will be recognized for their efforts in learning about making healthy, responsible choices. We’re grateful for the support of our School Resource Officer, Tom Andrejevic, who has guided them through this journey. In addition, fifth graders and their families are invited to attend Future Jayhawk Night tomorrow evening at 6:30 P.M. at Jay Stream—a great opportunity to tour the school and learn more about what’s ahead.
Please note that the final day for book returns is Friday, May 23. If your child has any Western Trails library books at home, kindly return them by that date.
One cherished tradition we’re looking forward to is the Fifth Grade Clap Out, where we’ll honor and celebrate our graduating fifth graders. Families will receive more details during the week of May 26.
As we close out the school year, we want to remind families that consistent attendance and arriving on time continue to be essential. In April, we averaged 21 tardy students per day, with some days reaching as many as 30. Late arrivals impact both student learning and classroom routines. We truly appreciate your continued efforts to ensure your student arrives at school on time. If there is anything we can do to support you, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

A medida que nos acercamos al final del año escolar 2024-2025, nos complace compartir los maravillosos eventos y celebraciones que se llevan a cabo en Western Trails.
Esta semana, nuestros alumnos de segundo grado subirán al escenario para presentar Lemonade, un encantador musical que han estado preparando con mucho esfuerzo. ¡Estamos muy orgullosos de su dedicación y estamos ansiosos por disfrutar de su actuación!
Nuestros alumnos de quinto grado también se preparan para importantes eventos. Su graduación de D.A.R.E. tendrá lugar el 21 de mayo en Jay Stream, donde serán reconocidos por su esfuerzo en aprender a tomar decisiones saludables y responsables. Agradecemos el apoyo de nuestro Oficial de Recursos Escolares, Tom Andrejevic, quien los ha guiado en este camino. Además, los alumnos de quinto grado y sus familias están invitados a asistir a la Noche de Futuros Jayhawk mañana por la tarde a las 6:30 p. m. en Jay Stream, una gran oportunidad para recorrer la escuela y conocer más sobre lo que les espera.
Tenga en cuenta que el último día para la devolución de libros es el viernes 23 de mayo. Si su hijo/a tiene libros de la biblioteca Western Trails en casa, por favor, devuélvalos antes de esa fecha.
Una tradición muy querida que esperamos con ansias es el Aplauso de Quinto Grado, donde honraremos y celebraremos a nuestros alumnos graduados de quinto grado. Las familias recibirán más detalles durante la semana del 26 de mayo.
Al finalizar el año escolar, queremos recordarles a las familias que la asistencia constante y la puntualidad siguen siendo esenciales. En abril, tuvimos un promedio de 21 estudiantes que llegaban tarde por día, y algunos días llegaron a 30. Las llegadas tarde afectan tanto el aprendizaje de los estudiantes como las rutinas del aula.
