Silver Gate Elementary
November 18, 2024
Have a great week!
I would like to express my gratitude to all parents who attended Parent-Teacher Conferences the last week. Your active involvement in your child's education is a crucial element of their academic success, and the constructive conversations that took place during these conferences are indicative of the strong partnership between home and school. Together, we can continue to provide the best possible support for our students.
As we head into break, I want to take a moment to thank you all for participating in our SG Gratitude Challenge. I am so enjoying watching our students express their gratitude through speaking, writing, movement, and art. I hope you're taking the time to appreciate life's little blessings and expressing gratitude for the relationships, experiences, and opportunities that make each of your lives unique. I hope you all find a moment during the break to complete week four of the challenge.
I am truly thankful for the entire Silver Gate community and the kind and collaborative spirit that makes our school so special, regardless of the month of the year. On behalf of the entire Silver Gate Staff, I wish you a very happy Fall Break and Thanksgiving. Please enjoy, and stay healthy and safe. We look forward to seeing you all back on December 2nd.

Annual Giving: Help Us Beautify Our School!
A beautiful and well-maintained school environment is essential for our children’s learning and well-being. Your donations help fund facilities improvements and site beautification projects, creating a welcoming and inspiring space for our students.
Recent projects have included (landscaping, playground upgrades, and classroom enhancements.) With your support, we can continue to make Silver Gate a place where students thrive. Donations are tax-deductible, and employer matching is available, so please consider contributing and checking with your employer about matching gifts.
Thank you for helping us create a beautiful and nurturing environment for our children!

Habit 3, Put First Things First
As part of habit 3, put first things first, we think about how having a place for everything (being organized) might help reach goals. Talk with your kids about how they might organize their things, in school and at home. Use the attach list and add things that may apply to their life. Talk through the list as you go about how each one will be beneficial, and what would happen if they didn't organize a "place for everything."
Confirm Your After School Enrichment Programs Schedule
If your child participates in After School Enrichment programs at Silver Gate, or would like to, you need to be checking our website for the most up to date schedules. There are dates where programs do not run within the regular cycle due to school wide events or early out days for conferences.
Go to: https://silvergate.sandiegounified.org/, After School Programs, and click After School Enrichment Programs 24/25.

ATTENDANCE & SICKNESS PROTOCOL
Please do not send your child to school when they are sick.
When your child must be absent for any reason, please call the office at 858-988-2200 ext. 1 by 9:00 a.m. every day of non-attendance, giving the exact reason for the absence. You can also email Renee Erickson at rerickson@sandi.net
Any child arriving after 7:50 a.m. must stop in the office and pick up a tardy slip. This is disruptive to your child and the entire class. Let's set good habits early in the school year to arrive on time. Silver Gate had the highest attendance in the Point Loma Cluster last year! Let’s keep up the good work!
