Spring is in full bloom, and with it comes a season full of excitement here at school! We’re looking forward to some of our favorite events, including the upcoming Spring Band Concert and our Open House/Arts Fest—a great opportunity to celebrate our students’ hard work and connect as a community.

At the same time, we’re preparing for state standardized testing, which will begin in May. We encourage students to get plenty of rest and do their best—it’s a chance to show all they’ve learned this year!

Next month, students will be taking the CA Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) for both Language Arts and Math, for all grades. 8th graders will be taking an additional Science test. These standardized assessments are required and will be important for teachers to assess the learning that occurred with the curriculum over the year as well as show where individual students are in specific areas of the content at this moment in time. The data gathered can, in turn, be used next year for us to guide instruction and to show where additional support may be needed.

Previously, the data gathered has been used for placement in courses at both the middle and high school levels. Until these assessments are completed and shared with us later this summer, the information and its weight are still to be determined.

Students will need to bring their Chromebooks - to school for daily use. We will NOT have extras in the classroom for students to use so it is IMPERATIVE they remember to charge and bring each day.

Foothill Middle School appreciates the support families provide through donations for our classes. All Donations are collected through the Foothill MS Webstore, found at that link or on our homepage.

• Donations provide materials, which include licensing, software programs, and supplies; this is especially true of elective classes.
• All the materials (whether tangible or not) are designed to aid students in learning and developing their skills.
• These are ONLY for Foothill MS students. Donations do not feed into the District funds.
