Principal's Message
Dear parents, families and caregivers,
I wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude for the warm welcome I have received during my first few months as the new principal of Wilson. It has been an absolute pleasure getting to know your children and being a part of this wonderful community.
The first two weeks of school have been filled with lots of learning and fun and I am delighted by the enthusiasm and dedication our students have shown! It's been an exciting time for all of us as we settle into the new school year.
Thank you for your continued support and encouragement as I navigate through these initial months in my new role. Your partnership is invaluable, and together, we will continue to create a positive and nurturing environment for our students.
Here's to many more successful weeks ahead!
Warm regards,
Cassie Mitchell
Principal

School Hours
Morning supervision begins at 7:45am and students are allowed into the building at 8:00am. It's important to be aware that students arriving between 8:10am and 8:25am will be marked tardy, and any arrivals after 8:25am will be considered an absence.
In the event of an absence, please notify the attendance line at 507-444-8405. If you need to report an absence after 9:00 am, we kindly ask that you call the main line at 507-444-8400.
Student Pick-Up
As a reminder to all families, the safety of our students is our number one priority. We kindly ask for your cooperation in ensuring that students are safely crossing the street at the end of the day when being picked up. It is crucial that families utilize the designated crosswalks to pick up their children or assist them in crossing, especially because it is also a bus loading zone. Children should not be running across the road unaccompanied. Your assistance in maintaining a safe and organized pick-up process during this busy time of day is greatly appreciated.
Thank you for helping us keep all students safe and secure during these peak hours!
Homecoming Week
Homecoming week is coming up and we have planned some fun dress up days for students!
- Monday, September 30th will be Pajama Day.
- Tuesday will be Famous Day- dress up like someone who is famous! Students could also dress up as a famous character from a movie or game.
- Wednesday is Western Day. Students can wear flannels or hats.
- Thursday is Jersey Day. Students can wear anything to support their favorite sports team!
- Friday is Husky Day. Students can wear anything blue or a Owatonna Husky shirt.
Happy Homecoming!!
Join the PTO!
We are thrilled to welcome all the new families who have joined our school community this year. As we look to strengthen and expand our Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO), we invite you to join us in this exciting endeavor. Our recent meeting on Tuesday, September 17 saw an impressive turnout of 14 members, marking it as one of our best turnouts yet. We are encouraged by the enthusiasm and support shown for the PTO's vital role in enhancing our school experience.
Our upcoming meetings will be a great opportunity for you to meet fellow parents, staff members, collaborate and ask any questions you may have regarding the PTO's objectives and initiatives.
Please mark your calendars for these upcoming PTO dates: October 15, November 19, December 17, January 21, February 18, March 18, April 15 and May 20. Meetings are at 5:00 pm.
We hope to see you there!
Our recent PTO Ice Cream Social was a resounding success, with an incredible turnout! The strong support from our families made the event memorable as we went through an impressive 17.5 gallons of ice cream. Almost 6 more gallons that last year! This event was a wonderful opportunity for families to come together and build connections within our school community.
