Miss Fuchs' Weekly Updates
March 2nd
A Seusstastical Day!
Students had a fabulous time celebrating the children's author, Dr. Seuss, today! They rotated to different rooms for a read aloud and educational activity. They read the Lorax and identified ways to help our earth then made a Lorax Planter Pot! In Ms. McGinn's classroom the students read the story Wacky Wednesday and identified "wacky" things through out the story, then created their own version of a "Wacky Wednesday" story. In each of the math classes, students read the story One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish and did some Goldfish Graphing! Overall, it was an awesome day to be an FSA student. :)
A big thank you to all our parent volunteers! Check out homeroom for pictures of our exciting day!!

Chess Team Information
Hi Chess Players,
It is that time of the year when we need all tournament chess players to come out and play for Fulton Science Academy at the State Chess Team Qualifiers! The top teams from the Qualifier events will move on to the championship, which is on March 25, 2018 (more details).
This year, the Qualifier level has been split into two events to reduce the size of the tournament (last year was one huge tournament). The Qualifier tournaments are unrated and do not require USCF membership.
March 3, 2018
Students in K-3 section and 6-8 section should play this Qualifier.
March 10, 2018
Students in K-1 section and K-5 section should play this Qualifier.
In general, students should have played at least one tournament prior to these Qualifiers. Students have more fun if they are not worried about things like how to use the chess clock, etc. The exception to this is the K-1 level. As long as kids know how to play chess and are solid with all the rules, it would be ok for a child new to tournaments to play in the K-1 section.
Please register your child by clicking the links provided above. You will be given a choice to register as an Individual or a Team. Please register as an Individual (you will be put on the team list with your other teammates by GCA after you register).
If anyone has any questions about the Section their child belongs in or any other questions, please email Karen@atlchessclub.com
Do'nut miss DONUTS with DAD!
Moms, go ahead and mark your calendars for Friday, April 20 from 8:00-8:30AM! Your special day will be next!
Elementary Career Day!
StudyIsland ROCKS
If you are looking for reinforcement of skills we are learning in class or extra practice for your first grade student - please consider using Study Island resource at home this year. This is a great resource we will be using this year where students can practice Math and Reading/Language Arts skills at home. This will help your child feel more confident during our MAP assessments this year. It is designed to help them practice the areas they are having difficulty with. Your child's username and password is the same as your FSA Connect login. If you need this information, please send me an email.
You can access the website at http://www.studyisland.com/
A Peek at our week....

A light and sound QR code research, a light experiment with translucent, transparent, and opaque material, forming rainbows with prisms, making sound with different materials, and making their own pan flute!
