Falcon Zone Staff Testimonials
I do not have children attending FHS but I wanted to say something about the Homecoming Game that I attended. The Fighting Falcon Regiment marching band is fantastic. They sound like a huge band even though they are smaller in number. I loved the small town feel of the Homecoming Game and the Parade of the Homecoming King and Queen Nominees. The event truly had a personal touch to it as the announcer gave short biographies of each candidate. I marveled that the students supported their Falcon football team and that they stood on their feet throughout the game. The baseball team is extra extra special and honorable with emphasis on character, talent, and sportsmanship.

I have worked at FHS for over 10 years and I love this building! The staff are wonderful and caring of one another. We work to support our students on so many levels to ensure they are getting an awesome education and experience at FHS. I only see good things to come in the future!

At Falcon High, we have brought back French after not having it in our building for ten years. Last semester, we also celebrated National French Week! Students did various cultural activities to let them easily connect the language they are learning with the people. Students spent one day playing pétanque (bocce ball but with fully metal balls). Another day students review 2000 years of French history via shorts videos, watching everything from part of a cartoon set in the Roman era to a black and white satire about World War II. Our last day of National French Week was spent having a French Food Potluck. Students had researched a diverse spread of French cuisine that they could bring or create and dined together in celebration of the rich culture they are leaning about in their new French classes.

Falcon Zone Family Testimonials
The PTA at FESoT experienced a revamp in the spring of 2024 and we have seen a lot more engagement opportunities through dances, bingo nights, Halloween/In n Out night, etc. These events have provided our family an opportunity to get out and about and interact with others in the school community.

I cannot say enough great things about WHES! I was actually a graduate of FHS and was the first 5th grade class from WHES after it was built. Obviously times have changed since I was in school to now, but so much has stayed the same (in a good way!). I absolutely love the fact that WHES feels like a small town community school. All of the staff is so friendly and they truly do care about each student. We have an incredible teacher this year (Mrs. Moore) and I have been blown away with how invested she is with every student in her class. She wants each kid to succeed and thrive. I have had other interactions with the teachers at WHES and feel they also want the same for their students. I am also so impressed with Mrs. Stegman and how she runs the school. She takes the time to get to know the families and her genuine passion for the school shows in so many ways. I was surprised to know how many kids are enrolled at WHES because it feels so much smaller than that! Even though Falcon as a whole has grown so much over the years, the strength in community is still there and to me, that is what truly matters the most!

Falcon Zone Students Earn Their WINGS
Falcon Zone launched on a new flight path this year to ensure all of our graduates Earn their WINGS as they move forward in their educational journey. Schools, teachers, staff, and community are working together in various ways to help our students see the importance of each of these WINGS, in all aspects, throughout the school. Wisdom is at the top so that we ensure all of our students achieve essential content, skills, and standards to prepare them for their next academic steps. Integrity comes next as it is critical that our students and teams demonstrate honesty, strong ethical principles, and moral values each and every day. Networking is in the center as it is central to all that we do; we want to ensure that students develop strong positive relationships with those around them to foster a positive environment overall. Grit is important to ensure that our students develop persistence, resilience, and determination that will help them to tackle real world challenges. Finally, all students should exude Self-Confidence so that they can believe in themselves and their abilities to do great things.
When all of us in the Falcon Zone work together and challenge our students with Engaging Environments, Enhanced Opportunities, and Elevated Instruction, then we will Empower our Learners in the Falcon Zone to Earn their WINGS. Our instructional model throughout all of our classrooms is focused on providing balanced instruction where direct instruction, small group instruction, and personalized learning all work together. We want to ensure our students are well prepared academically, and possess the skills within our portrait of a graduate, so that they can fly forward to their next chapter after high school. Falcon Zone is on the right flight path overall as our state achievement scores in the Zone showed the strongest gains in D49! Way to go Falcon Zone...let's keep going and continue to fly higher than before!

One Student's Falcon Zone Special Education Journey
From a D49 Falcon Zone Parent and Para at FHS
"This is about Matthew's experience in the Falcon Zone from preschool to high school. I want to highlight the exceptional care, education and opportunities he has had through the Special Education programs.
-The preschool program starting at WHES when he was 3 was a great introduction to education with speech, occupational and physical therapy services. Dawnise Sandwick (SPED Instructional Coach @ FHS) worked with him for K -1 and he had amazing teachers Michelle Fothergill and Lisa Reece.
-His program moved to FESoT for 2-5 grade. There were several staff transitions but he had great support in both Special and General Education. Dawnise Sandwick, Melanie Holts, Robyn Johnson, and Melissa Ardolf were amazing supports.
-These elementary experiences helped us as we chose FMS for 6-8. Middle School can be a difficult transition for any student and we were concerned about how our student would adjust to a much bigger environment. Even though teachers, paras and service providers changed, our student always received the best education and opportunities to try new things.
- As we transitioned to FHS there was the usual anticipation of starting a new school. The program(s) at FHS have been amazing. He has also had many opportunities to join his peers in General Education classes. Sarah Brockberg, coordinator for Adaptive PE, has created so many field trips and sports competitions for his program. Shawn Sturm, Shana Kirk, Eric Canuel, Sam Cates, Danielle Samp, Justin Mendell and amazing paras have all helped him along the way.
As we prepare for graduation, we are confident about the next steps in his educational journey."
