November Board Recap
The Mequon-Thiensville Board of Education held one working meeting and closed session, one policy committee meeting, one legislative committee meeting, and one regular business meeting this month.
November 4 Working Meeting & Closed Session
The Board heard an update and engaged in discussion around MTSD’s employee health benefits.
The Board heard a presentation of the MTSD Annual Programs Report from Sara Summ, Director of Assessment & Student Programs, and engaged in subsequent discussion.
Molly Loucks, Chief of Communications, presented a final Referendum Communications & Engagement update.
The Board discussed preparation for its mid-year self-evaluation.
The Board of Education convened into Closed Session pursuant to Wis. Stats. 19.85(1)(c) to consider the employment, promotion, compensation, or performance evaluation data of any public employee over which the governmental body has jurisdiction or exercises responsibility, specifically to consider an early retirement window for individual eligible employees.
November 6 Policy Committee Meeting
Policies reviewed included: #0142.1 - Draft Membership - Election/Appointment - Electoral Process, #0142.5 - Draft Membership - Election/Appointment - Vacancies, #6220 - Draft (New) Employee Benefits, #5511 Draft Dress and Appearance, #5451.01 - Draft Wisconsin Academic Excellence Scholarship, #5451.02 - Draft (New) Wisconsin Technical Excellence Scholarship, #2463 - Draft (New) Talented, Advanced, and Gifted Program, #5451 - Draft Student Recognition, #5200.01 - Draft (New) Full-Time Student.
November 12 Legislative Committee Meeting
The Legislative Committee engaged in planning and discussion around next steps in legislative advocacy related to Wisconsin’s 2025-2027 biennial budget.
November 18 Regular Business Meeting
The Board heard an October 2024 Treasurer’s Report from Dr. Mary Gavigan.
The Board heard a report from the Lake Shore PTO.
The Board heard a student council report from Homestead senior, Patrick Brown.
The Board heard a Superintendent’s Report from Dr. Joynt.
The Board heard a Legislative Committee Report from Shelley Burns.
The Board took action to approve Kate Barikmo and Shelley Burns (alternate) as delegates to the WASB Delegate Assembly at the 2025 State Education Convention.
The Board took action to approve several new and updated policies.
The Board heard an annual report from the District’s Director’s Team on the 2021-2024 Strategic Plan.
Dr. Matthew Joynt provided an update on the 2025-2028 Strategic Planning process.
The Board heard an update on the 2025-2026 school year budget planning process from Sarah Viera.
Board policies #5451 - Draft Student Recognition and #5200.01 - Draft (New) Full-Time Student were presented for first readings.
The Board recognized several monetary gifts to Homestead High School programs, as well as the middle school orchestra program.
