Dear PES Families,
What a busy and exciting week we've had, despite the short week! On Thursday, we were thrilled to welcome Ribby from the Swampbats, who came to share details about the reading program we’ll be participating in. Please see the information below for more details on this fantastic program!
Yesterday was a memorable day as we had the pleasure of hearing a wonderful song from our Kindergarten students, and we also took the time to celebrate our March Students of the Month. Thank you to all the families who were able to join us for this special occasion.
Please see below for message from Mrs. Morris!
I hope you are enjoying the weekend!
Tammy
Reading with Ribby
Students were sent home with information about our reading with Ribby program. Reading with Ribby is a program designed to foster a love of reading from a young age. The challenge is to read (or be read to) 18 times for 20 minutes each time. Students will mark off your bookmark each time you read, and submit the bookmark to your teacher when you've completed it!
Besides a deepened love for Reading, all students that complete the program will receive a free t-shirt and a family pass to one of our Reading with Ribby celebration nights held in mid-June. The date of the game will be included on a letter sent home with the t-shirt.
Game On! After School Wellness
A fun 4 day after school opportunity for students. Students will participate in team building and cooperative games. To be held in the Gym afterschool from 3:30-4:30 pm. Each day I will work with a different group of 10 students in order to provide more students the ability to participate. Once your student is signed up you will be given a permission slip to fill out and return to me. Any questions? (tbmorris@conval.edu)
Thank you! Mrs.Morris
Preschool Family Engagement
ConVal Preschool Social Workers, Alisa LaSalle and Angela Ramsden, have offered daytime and evening workshops for preschool families, with pizza and childcare included. At the most recent event, seven parents/guardians and twelve children came for an hour of learning and fun at PES. Alisa and Angie led the workshop on Self-regulation, Co-regulation, and Mindfulness strategies, which included tools and strategies to try at home. The children had fun playing with Preschool Special Educator Amy Hatmaker, as well as three ConVal high school student helpers from Sarah Grossi's program. The next preschool family workshop will be on Problem Solving strategies and will include a special visit with PES therapy dog, Charlie.
Preschool families have also been invited to attend monthly coffee hours with Alisa and Angie at Dunkin Donuts in Peterborough. Parents/guardians have come together to visit and collaborate with one another, and have been provided resources to support their children.
