Association of School Business Officials International - Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting
Killeen ISD received the Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting from ASBO International for the 2023-2024 fiscal year. The district has been honored with this recognition annually for over 30 years, highlighting its commitment to financial transparency and efficiency. Chief Financial Officer Kallen Vaden expressed pride in the financial reporting department's dedication to maintaining high standards.
Trustees Approve Pay Increases in 2024-2025 Compensation Plan
KISD employees will see an increase in their pay for the 2024-2025 school year, thanks to the compensation plan approved by the Board of Trustees at its regular meeting on Tuesday.
The compensation plan includes an average 4% increase for all non-exempt staff including paraprofessionals and auxiliary staff such as custodians, bus drivers and school nutrition staff. The new starting salary for a beginning teacher will be $58,000. All other professional staff will receive a 3% increase.
“We appreciate the Board of Trustees for their thoughtful discussion and approval of this compensation package,” Dr. Jo Ann Fey, superintendent of schools, said. “Our budget was tight this year, but our trustees found a way to reinforce that we value our hardworking, dedicated and talented staff.”
Trustees Approve Continued Partnerships with CTC, Temple College
Trustees approved memorandums of understanding and agreements with Central Texas College and Temple College that will continue partnerships between the educational entities at a cost savings to KISD.
KISD has an ongoing partnership with CTC to provide dual credit coursework to high school students through KISD's Early College High School, high school dual credit program, high school STEM Academy and the Culinary Arts program. Temple College offers KISD student the opportunity to join the Texas Bioscience Institute program.
Because CTC and Temple College recently implemented the FAST program (Financial Aid for Swift Transfer), the tuition rate is significantly reduced for high school dual credit students. The reduced tuition rate is $55 at CTC and $65 at Temple College. Additionally, for students who are educationally disadvantaged, the tuition rate is $0 at both colleges. KISD pays the tuition and textbooks costs for all dual credit students.
