1. Conferences are THIS WEEK. You should already have an appointment time. If you do not, please contact your student's advisor.
2. There is a new HAC link. Please use this link to access the Home Access Center. There is a permanent button on the bottom of this newsletter that will always be there.
3. The gym will be closed the week of 9/25 - 9/29 due to the gym floors being remodeled. Students who have PE will not be able to dress out or have access to the locker room that week. Students are still encouraged to wear proper shoes for physical activity and bring their water bottle to PE.
   

Do you ever ask your child about his/her day and you get a shoulder shrug? or "it was fine"? If this is the case, use these questions to ask your child about school - let's get them talking!

History 7 - Name one negative and one positive effect of the Columbian Exchange.

ELA 7- In the chapters read so far in Freak the Mighty, how does one character impact another character in the story?

Adv. ELA 7 - What is a significant setting in The Outsiders and how does that setting affect a character?

Acc. Math 7 - What are integers & how does absolute value relate to integer addition?

Language Lab 7 - Compare and contrast active and passive voice? What is the purpose of each voice?

Science 7 - What are two examples of matter and two examples of energy?

Science 6 - How does roller coaster use different forms of energy?

Art 6 - What is the process you are using to draw your self portrait, and what are some of the things you feel are successful and/or challenging?

Adv. Art 7 -Have you started planning for your character portrait bust? Who are you creating and why?

Art 7 - What is the theme for your 3 Point Perspective City Project?

Stagecraft - Tell me about your papier mache project.

Health 6 - Why is talking about the physical & mental consequences of vaping so important to learn about?

Keycode 6/7 - Have your student show you his/her stats in Typing Club and discuss speed and accuracy.

Math 6 - What is a ratio? If there are 4 dogs for every 2 cats, can you calculate an equivalent ratio?

Math 7 - How do you write a proportional equation?

ELA 6 - What is imagery and how do writers use it?

Careers 6 - How are credit cards and debit cards different? How are they alike?

Band - Can you play your first 5 notes in Band? Show me what you've learned how to play.

Wild Dog Races for 6th grade boys and girls. This is a one mile run. The first event was rescheduled to Sept. 27th at Har-Ber High School. Entry fee is $5. See your PE Coach to sign up or for more information. Forms are linked below:

You must have a current physical to practice and try-out for the team. If you plan to attend these optional practices, you must complete the following form.

• Girls will practice on Mondays from 3:30-4:45 beginning on Sept. 11. We will not practice on 9/25 because of parent-teacher conferences. If you have any questions, please contact Karen LaMendola, klamendola@sdale.org
• Boys will begin on Wednesday, Sept. 13 from 2:10-3:45 For more information contact Jax Gutierrez, jgutierrez@sdale.org

Tryouts will be the last week of November or the first week of December.

• GIRLS practices will begin in January on Monday and Thursday, 3:30-5:30.
• BOYS practices will begin in January on Wednesday (2:10-4:15) and second day TBD.

Our monthly FREE, Arisa Health virtual parenting education sessions start Tuesday, September ​26th with "Righty Tighty, Lefty Loosey: Integrating the Brain - the Ultimate Parenting Hack" facilitated by Kelly Krout, LMSW, Community Outreach Specialist/MHP. These will support parents and caregivers of youth aged pre-K-12th grade​‌.
