Let’s make it a fantastic week together!
Important Announcement: Winter Recess
We love giving students the chance to enjoy the fresh air! Students will go outside for recess when the feels-like temperature is 15°F or above and it is not raining.
To play in the snow, students must come prepared with gloves, snow pants, snow boots, and a change of shoes. Thank you for helping ensure our students stay warm and ready for winter fun!

Students of the Week
Learning At Franklin: February 2025
Kindergarten
Our kindergarten students have been working hard on learning sight words and "red words"! Through fun and engaging activities, they are building their early reading skills and confidence with word recognition. Keep up the great work, kindergarten!
Our kindergarten students had a blast learning about Chinese New Year by creating their own colorful dragon puppets! This hands-on activity helped them explore the traditions of the holiday while sparking creativity and fun. Happy Lunar New Year!
1st Grade
As part of our Light and Shadow Project-Based Learning (PBL) unit, students applied their science knowledge to create giant coloring pages! These creative masterpieces will be used during indoor recess, combining art, science, and fun in a truly engaging way.
2nd Grade
Bringing Stories to Life in 2nd Grade! 🎭📚 Our 2nd graders took their Reader’s Theatre to the next level with a hands-on Project-Based Learning activity! They worked together to create a mural backdrop, map of the setting, creative ads, and character trading cards—all leading up to an exciting class performance. This experience fostered teamwork, creativity, and a deeper love for literature! 🎨🌟👏
Students conducted an experiment to see how water changes rocks, helping them make important connections to how landscapes evolve over time. It was a hands-on way to bring science to life and explore the power of nature!
3rd Grade
Our 3rd graders are diving into research! Last week, they worked in pairs on a SOLE (Self-Organized Learning Environment) research session to explore animal adaptations. After gathering information, they created posters showcasing their findings and presented them to the class. It’s amazing to see their curiosity and collaboration in action! 🦁📚🔍
4th Grade
Our 4th graders are putting their STEM skills to work! They are creating Screencastify videos to share with their STEMpals, explaining their projects and discoveries. This hands-on experience allows them to practice communication, collaboration, and technology skills while connecting with others in a meaningful way! We can't wait to see their creativity in action! 🚀🔬
Celebrating World Read Aloud Day! 📖✨ Our 4th graders had a special opportunity to read to our 2nd graders, sharing their love of books and building connections through storytelling. It was a wonderful way to foster a love of reading and bring our Franklin community together! ❤️📚
