Please make sure to let your child's teacher know about any changes to your child's end of day plans if they differ from a full day Friday.

Wixom Elementary is adopting a 4 month old lab named Wix through the Walled Lake Paws Assisting Learners Program (PALs). Wix will be the 9th dog in this program that is already well established at other schools in our district. PALs provides so many benefits to the kids of Walled Lake Consolidated School District such as enhancing relationships with peers and teachers, helping students learn to express their feelings, increasing school attendance, providing positive moods, increasing reading confidence in the classroom, increased learning motivation, decreasing depression and anxiety behaviors, easing social isolation in students, and helping them to learn social skills.

Wix just started his training and we are looking forward to him finishing sometime in the spring of 2025. After his training is complete, your students will see him around the school and the community!

Thank you so much to our Wixom PTA for providing the initial funds for our dog, and to SPURT Industries in Wixom for providing a generous donation to get our puppy into the training program. We also want to say Thank you to Blair Hulet of Milliduke Travel for providing the first year of Wix's expenses, and Jenna Bartow of Keller Williams Showcase Realty for covering his vet fees. Finally, we would like to thank Jimmy Mehta at Commerce Pets for donating pet supplies to get Wix off to training.

Our annual Wixom Field Day event is this Friday, May 24 from 9:30 am - 12:00 pm. Please remember to send your child dressed for Field Day. We would like all students to wear their Wixom Kindness class color shirts. Many students like to bring Sharpie markers to have others sign their shirts on Field Day. We also suggest students wear tennis shoes and a hat. Also bring a water bottle (with name clearly written) and apply sunscreen.

Please Note: We will only be allowing volunteers who sign up to attend our Field Day event this year. We will unfortunately not be allowing additional visitors at school that day for the safety of our all of our students. There are still a few spots open to come help on Field Day. Thank you to Girl Scout Troop 77707, the Watch Dog leaders Matt and Nick, and our Wixom Elementary Garden Club for arranging a yard clean up in the front yard at our school! They planted flowers, trimmed the tall grasses, and weeded the entire front garden. We really appreciate all their hard work and the 15 bags of yard waste that they took care of!

Thank you to our PTA for everything they do for our school! Our next general PTA Meeting will be in September. Look for more information before school starts in August.

At our last PTA Meeting, we held our Wixom PTA Board Elections. Congratulations to our Wixom PTA Board for the 2024-25 school year and thank you for your time and dedication to our school!
