Welcome back everybody! The building has quickly become full of energy and excitement as we start the 202-2025 school year, after what was hopefully a nice summer for all. It is nice to see the returning students and to welcome all of those new to W.D Cuts. We have a number of new teachers in the building this year as well to welcome. Stephen Day (Assistant Principal), Coral Ferrari (Pursuit program), Ted Heyworth (grade 7), Jason Segger (grade 9), Cam Skip (grade 8), Sarah Wetyk (grade 9). Mrs. Knoll is also back from maternity leave.

We hit the ground running in September, with senior volleyball teams starting tryouts next week. Senior girls start on Tuesday, September 3, after school and senior boys are Wednesday after school. Cross country dates will be coming up soon; announcements will be made at school for students.

The first parent council meeting is Monday, September 16 at 7:00 PM, in the library. It is a good way to be involved in the school, and we encourage all interested parents to attend. Meetings are once a month and usually last around an hour.

If there are ever any questions or concerns, our doors are always open. Come in, call, or email us if there is anything we can help with. We are looking forward to another great year at Cuts.

Limiting distractions in Alberta classrooms

To safeguard student mental health and reduce distractions, as per the Ministerial Order by the Education Minister, personal mobile devices will no longer be permitted during class time and access to social media sites will be restricted.

Upon entering their classroom, students will be required to place their personal mobile device in a locker or backpack where it will remain during class time. In addition, airpods or other headphones must be stored away during class time.

Smart Photography will be doing our pictures this year on September 5th, 2024. All you need to order your student's pictures is your student's ID number. You can find your student's ID number by logging into your Parent Portal account. Go to your school fees (on a web browser, not the app) and the student ID will be beside any of their fees.
