Transfer Stories from NVC
Where are they now?
National Transfer Student Week
Also, we caught up with a few NVC transfer alumni over the weekend and asked them a few questions about their transfer experience and what they are up to now.
Juan Daniel A.
I can proudly say that I am working at my dream company which is ESPN! I am currently a production assistant under the ESPN NEXT program located in Bristol, Connecticut. It’s been a wild ride to get to the position that I am in today, but it all came with small steps of putting in the work to make my dream come true. It sounds very cliché but if you work hard towards whatever you are interested in, doors will open up for an opportunity that could lead to your dream job.
Jaqui G.
I graduated from Napa Valley College as a Business Administration student in May of 2022 with an Associate of Arts in Communication Studies, an Associate of Science in Business Administration, and my IGETC Certificate. I transferred to Dominican University of California where I am currently a Junior Business Administration student of the Barowsky School of Business where I plan to receive my B.A. in Business administration and a minor in Management in 2024, and in 2025 I will be doing my MBA, part of a 2+1 program that Dominican offers its students.
Some of the programs that I attribute to my successful transfer are; the SSS TRIO Program, The Puente Program, Phi Theta Kappa, and Alpha Beta Gamma. The guidance and support from these programs and organizations allowed me to establish a foundational confidence in myself and my education. SSS TRIO and The Puente Program helped me develop a secure educational plan where I was able to flourish and create skills that would benefit me at Dominican University. Early on in my education, I realized this process would not be easy by doing it alone therefore I sought out programs that would help me grow as an individual while supporting me to complete my goals.
My early years at Napa Valley College were full of struggles and low grades, but after seeking mentors and programs to help improve my grades, I was able to become an honor student and a mentor for various programs, and this May I was the Valedictorian for my graduating class bringing it full circle. I'm proud of my educational path, and I hope to inspire students with the knowledge that it's never too late to turn things around.
