News from Eli Terry
Week of September 8th, 2023
A Note from Your Principals
This week we want to highlight our commitment to ensuring that every student is able to achieve their full potential, and share information about our comprehensive MTSS framework.
Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) is a helpful approach used in elementary schools to ensure that every child gets the support they need to succeed. This system is designed to identify students who may need extra help in different areas, like academics, behavior, attendance, and social-emotional skills.
For those struggling with their schoolwork, MTSS provides targeted resources and interventions to boost their learning.
When it comes to behavior, it encourages positive strategies that help kids learn how to manage their actions and develop strong social skills.
MTSS also focuses on improving attendance by creating support systems that remind and encourage students to come to school regularly.
Additionally, it supports social-emotional growth by offering programs that help kids build resilience, empathy, and friendships.
Overall, MTSS creates a caring and inclusive environment where every child can thrive and reach their full potential!
Please see below for a helpful brochure that explains MTSS and also highlights the important role you play as parents/guardians!
Socktober Collection Update
Eli Terry will be celebrating Veterans Day on Monday, November 11th from 9:15-10:15.
It is a tradition to ask veterans and active military family members (or close friends) to join us in a school assembly so that students and staff can honor your/their service.
Veterans will start the morning in the Cafeteria with coffee and pastry, sign in with the principal, and process into the assembly together once everyone has arrived.
If you are a veteran or currently enlisted and plan to attend our Veterans Day assembly please complete the Google Form below!
Please help support our 5th graders & consider their fundraisers! 💚💛💚

PTO News & Events
We had a fantastic week at our first book fair of the year! Thank you to everyone who supported this event (shoppers AND volunteers) as our main focus continues to be putting books into students and staff hands! Our total sales were approximately $10,500 and our rewards will be half of that total in Scholastic Rewards Dollars.
Here's a list of how the Scholastic Dollars supported our community for just this event:
- All classrooms received 6-8 "best of the fair" book bags prior to the book fair, highlighting new and bestseller titles
- Covered the cost of books for students who were unable to purchase books, as well as when students were a couple dollars short of their total
- Supported purchases for PAWS raffles and the media center
- Provided four gift certificates to lucky PAWS winners
- Completed Teacher Wish Lists from Family Night
We'll be back in late February - hope your students are enjoying their new books!
LAST CALL for Mad Science - Session #2
See below for the two "new" Mad Science programs that are being offered for Session #2 on early release Wednesdays.
We currently do not have enough enrollment to run these programs, so if you were interested in having your child participate, but haven't yet registered, please do so as soon as possible!
Extra Special Author Visit Assembly 11.15
We're counting down the days and building excitement for our author's visit on Friday, November 15th.
This week in Library, Mrs. Aceto read-aloud Ivy's story to every class. Because the story has such an important message and theme, we wanted to share it with our families as well. Check out the video below featuring Mrs. Hammer and Maverick reading Ivy the Very Determined Dog!
We also linked a fun coloring page featuring Ivy and all her friends. We encourage families to color it together and share it with Ivy when she visits!
Last but not least, it's the final call for ordering your own extra special copy of the book! All orders and payment are due by 10/31, so Ivy has time for all her "pawtographing"!
