Field Flash
March 21, 2025
Dear Field Parents and Guardians,
We hope that you have had a nice week, and we hope your families have a good week together next week. As a reminder, we are closed for spring break, and school resumes on Monday, March 31st.
As we move into spring, we begin to prepare for the 2025-2026 school year. Each year, we provide parents an opportunity to share information about their child(ren), how they learn best, and preferences about peers in their classroom. If you are interested in sharing information, please use this form. You are able to complete this form until April 4th. Thank you for your partnership!
A few reminders:
- Please label your child's coat/jacket. As the weather warms, students start to take off their jackets during recess (and our lost & found grows). We look thru it for labeled items and return those - most items in the lost & found are not labeled.
- On that weather note, please know we direct students to "wear what their grown up sent them with for recess", so please talk with your child about wearing their coat or sweatshirt to recess (or adjust what your child brings to school).
- We continue to have serious safety issues in our Kiss & Go during morning arrival & dismissal. Please remember we are a community and it takes all of us following the rules of the road to ensure student (and adult) safety. Please do not block driveways, fire hydrants, or double park.
Sincerely,
Dr. Courtney Goodman
Principal

Gr 3-8 IAR schedule - Help your child be ready
The Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR) Test, an assessment for all students in Illinois in grades 3-8, will be administered in District 64 from April 1-April 11.
The best preparation for the IAR has been the quality instruction our teachers have provided this school year. However, there are things you can also do to promote your child’s success:
Make sure your child gets a good night’s sleep and eats a healthy breakfast before each day of testing.
Provide your child with words of encouragement. While we don’t want our students to feel anxious about any assessment, we do want them to do their best.
The IAR is an online assessment and students will be using their Chromebooks to complete these tests. Please make sure your child brings his or her Chromebook to school each day, fully charged.
Below is our school’s schedule for test administration:
Tuesday, April 1: ELA Test 1
Wednesday, April 2: Math Test 1
Thursday, April 3: ELA Test 2
Friday, April 4: Math Test 2
Tuesday, April 8: Math Test 3
If you would like to learn more about the IAR tests, sample tests are available for your review. Thank you for your support in helping your child be prepared for upcoming testing.
Spring Break Abatement at Field
As a part of the upcoming construction project at Field, we will be taking advantage of Spring Break and doing abatement while the students are out of the building. Abatement is done to clear asbestos out of tiles, pipes, and other materials and will completely remove these items. The work is performed by a licensed company that uses industry standard safety protocols and best practices. When students return from Spring Break, the floor tiling and carpet might be gone in some spaces and we will finish the last few weeks of school with concrete floors in these spaces. In other cases, there will be ceiling tiles removed. During the summer, the school will be remodeled, and we'll be excited to show off our updated spaces in August. If you have questions about abatement, you can contact our Director of Facilities, Mr. Noel Mendoza, nmendoza@d64.org.
School Attendance Matters
While we understand illness can keep children home from school, please make an effort to plan vacations, doctors' appointments, and other events outside of the school day or school year.
Dates to Remember!
- March 24-March 28: Spring Break
- March 31: Welcome back to school!
- April 1-8: Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR) in grades 3-5
