I hope this message finds you well and that you had a wonderful start to the new year! As we step into February, I want to take a moment to share our students continue to make great strides in their learning, and I want to commend them for their hard work and perseverance.

Your partnership and involvement play a key role in our school community, and whether volunteering, attending events, or supporting your child’s learning at home, your efforts make a difference. Attendance Reminder

All attendance updates can be sent to: cloffice@gsdwi.org, the preferred method of contact to report an absence is by emailing attendance before 8:20, including the teacher and any relevant details.

Personal Phones, Watches, and Devices

Personal Communication Devices Board Policy 5136 regarding Personal Communication Devices is available online. The use of personal communication devices during the school day is prohibited unless expressly allowed by a staff member for a special purpose. Cell phones must be turned off and placed in backpacks prior to entering the building. Smartwatches (i.e., Apple watch, GizmoWatch, Garmin, etc.) are considered personal communication devices if they have cellular or wifi connectivity. Cellular or wifi connectivity on smartwatches must be disabled during school hours if the student wishes to wear the watch during the school day. Students should use the classroom or office phones if they need to communicate with someone outside the building during the day.

Reading Screener

Children in Kindergarten through Grade 3 recently completed the aimswebPlus early reading screener. This screener is intended to assess the early reading skills of alphabetic knowledge, letter sound knowledge, phonemic awareness, decoding and oral reading fluency. These skills are assessed differently depending on the student’s grade level. Students will be bringing home information with their specific scores and percentile rank on the skills that were measured. Additional information is provided on the screening document.

It's always important to label your mittens, hats, gloves, etc. in case they become lost.

Our February PTA meeting will be held in the library at County Line at 6:30PM on 2/3. All are welcome to come, please consider coming to this month's meeting.
