VIA K-5 Wins MyPath Championship
DTSOI Virtual Innovation Academy tops national competitors
Don Tyson School of Innovation K-5 Virtual Innovation Academy students were named the 2024 National Imagine MyPath Bowl champions.
“We are so proud of our Phoenix Fledgling Learners at VIA DTSOI,” said Dr. Shay Hopper, DTSOI Virtual Innovation Academy assistant principal. “They are a curious, resilient group!”
The K-5 Virtual Innovation Academy students were presented with the 2024 National MyPath Bowl trophy May 16 at a ceremony in DTSOI’s performing arts center.
Imagine MyPath is a K–12 math and reading adaptive intervention solution that identifies the foundational skills a student needs and uses that data to create an individualized learning path personalized to them, according to an Imagine Learning press release.
The VIA’s Phoenix Fledglings earned the championship title by competing against schools from across the country, according to the release.
Participating students competed by completing Imagine MyPath digital math and literacy lessons in a bracket-style competition over four weeks, the release said. The top usage schools in the East and the West competed in weekly playoff rounds until only the winning school was left.
Schools across the country qualified for the playoff rounds throughout the fall 2023 semester by using Imagine MyPath. VIA DTSOI ultimately completed and passed more lessons than all the other competing schools to be named the winner.
Hopper recognized the contributions of the students’ learning support network toward the Phoenix Fledglings’ success.
“We also want to thank the amazing work of their teachers Mrs. [Laura] Newberry and Ms. [Andrea] Broshears and thank their learning coaches and families who support them at home,” Hopper said.
Schurz Elementary of Mineral County School District in Nevada was the runner up for the MyPath Bowl and received a certificate and a gift card for school supplies, according to the release.
