Dear Districts 67 and 115 Families,
I would like to share some important tips to promote a safe and positive school bus experience for all students. Ensuring the well-being of our students during their transportation to and from school is important, and your cooperation is greatly appreciated in achieving this goal.
Respect the Bus Driver: Remind your child of the importance of showing respect to the bus driver, listening to directions
- Students should be at their stop at least ten minutes before the bus is to arrive and wait in an orderly manner. We ask your cooperation in developing safe habits for coming to and returning from school, and reserve the right to deny bus privileges to any student who does not exercise proper behavior.
- Wait Safely: Instruct your child to wait for the bus at a safe distance from the road, and avoid playing in the street while waiting.
Enter and Exit Calmly: Running or pushing can lead to accidents, so it is crucial to exercise patience during these times. NOTE: Parents cannot board a school bus for any reason. Complaints or questions must be filed with the principal or transportation coordinator.
Remain Seated: Stay seated while the bus is in motion. This is a vital safety measure that helps prevent injuries in the event of sudden stops or turns.
Use Quiet Voices: Use quiet voices while on the bus to avoid distracting the driver. A calm environment ensures that the driver can concentrate on safely navigating the bus.
Report Issues: Any concerns or incidents should be reported to the bus driver or school authorities promptly. This helps address any problems swiftly and ensures a safer and more comfortable experience for everyone.
Parents are asked NOT to come to the location of a mechanical breakdown or accident. LFPD and a district administrator will be contacted to come meet the bus driver for additional support. Parents will receive updates via BrightArrow.
