On the move with Coach Horn and Coach Schuette
Hope you all had a wonderful spring break. We just finished with our hockey unit. During April we will begin with some cooperative games, hopefully outside, then we will be fitness testing to see progress over the year! Grades for the 3rd quarter are in and you can check them on skyward. Hopefully this month gives us some great weather so we can get outside! Stay Moving!
Field day will be May 17th, with a backup/rain date of May 20th.
We will have to have your information in the "check-in system" named Raptor, for you to be able to attend field day. Anytime you visit the building and check in, your information is stored for the remainder of the year. If you would like to come and "Pre-check", you may do so at any time. More will be sent in the May newsletter!
SHOES: Please have your student wear tennis shoes on their PE days, or have a set of them stored in the classroom. We are still seeing a lot of crocs and boots. Thanks so much!

From the Counselors
We hope everyone enjoyed spring break! The month of April will be busy with State Assessments for our 3rd and 4th graders. Please see the schedule below and have your child here each day so they can take the assessments with their class. We will be giving make-up assessments to students the week of April 15th .
4th graders - ELA: 4/2 & 4/3 Math: 4/9 & 4/10
3rd graders - ELA: 4/9 & 4/10 Math: 4/11 & 4/12
Please remember that we are available if you have concerns regarding your child’s teacher placement for next year. We are available to discuss your child’s needs. We do not make the placements for the intermediate centers.
If you are interested in having your child tutored over the summer, we have a list of teachers in the district who provide tutoring for a fee. If you would like a copy of the list, contact us and we will send you the information.
Also if you are moving or not returning to the district—please let the office know at 722-8230. It helps us with class placements. Thanks!

Yearbooks have been Ordered
You can no longer purchase a Yearbook through the website. We have ordered a few extra. These yearbooks will be made available on a first come first serve basis when they arrive. Cash or check only.
Attendance is Important
After seven absences, professional documentation will be required for an absence to be excused. With this change, the district encourages parents to obtain a note from a medical provider when appropriate. You can fax (722-5456), e mail or bring the forms into the office. Absences will not be changed after 3 business days. Find a complete definition of an excused absence in the District Student Handbook. This is important because Kansas Law requires the school district to report truancy after unexcused absences accumulate (three in a row, five in a semester, or seven in a school year). For more information on truancy, please see the Compulsory Attendance Law (K.S.A. 72-3120).
If you know of an extended absence ahead of time you will need to fill out the Administrative Excusal form prior to the absence.
