From Dr. Gruman
Dear Northwest Families,
We have enjoyed an exciting week with many events and learning opportunities. We are so proud of the amazing art work, wood design cutting boards, tensegrity table, or cabinet, design projects for drafting, PLTW, Biotech, and animation our students displayed at the SMSD Research and Development Forum. I had the opportunity to view all of our student work at one of the open houses last night. I am so very proud of the exemplary work our talented students shared in this forum. So many students received notable awards that reflect their hard work and growth as an artist, wood crafter, researcher, designer. Their outstanding work reflects the mentoring and dedication of their teachers. We are fortunate to have a talented teaching staff who provide spaces for our students to grow and learn.
While enjoying the open house for the SMSD R&D Forum, I was reminded of the many wonderful opportunities our students have to grow and thrive in their areas of interest. Thank you to our community for supporting our school district. And gratitude for our district leaders and their vision to create programs at the CAA and within each of our buildings that provide exceptional opportunities for our students. Whether scientific research in biotechnology, creating 2-D or 3-D animation short videos, utilizing advanced techniques with clay to create an expressive ceramic sculpture, meticulously crafting a cutting board with layered woods and laser etchings, or one of the many other areas - our students are engaging in their learning at the highest levels as they explore their passions. We are so grateful they have these opportunities!
We were also thrilled to welcome our future Cougar freshmen from Trailridge today! We had a wonderful time with activities lead by our LINK Crew and Student Council leaders, sponsors, counselors and admin, concluding with a fun Spirit Club assembly! So proud of our student leaders ensuring a successful transition for our students. We are fortunate to be a part of this wonderful community.
Have a wonderful week!
All the best,
Dr. Lisa Gruman
