Ms. Dunnigan Receives Alumni Excellence Award
The Mounds View Schools Education Fund (MVSEF) honored Ms. Dunnigan, Edgewood's Dean of Students, with the Alumni Excellence Award. This prestigious award celebrates graduates who have made significant contributions to their communities and the world through innovation, excellence, and character. Ms. Dunnigan was chosen to share her experiences, as she is a former alumni of Pinewood, Edgewood, and Irondale during the MVSEF breakfast Thursday morning, April 10, at the Mounds View Community Center. Congratulations, Ms. Dunnigan, we are grateful to have you here at Edgewood!
MCA Testing
Just a reminder that MCA testing will continue on the following dates throughout April. Please check your email for more information about the MCA assessments.
Math MCA (all grades): April 10, 2025 and April 11, 2025 beginning at 7:45am
Science MCA (grade 8 only): April 21, 2025 and April 22, 2025 beginning at 7:45am

Seventh Annual Student Honoring Pow Wow
Join us on Saturday, April 26, at Irondale High School for the Seventh Annual Student Honoring Pow Wow beginning at 1:00 pm with the grand entry with activities and a raffle throughout the day. All are welcome to attend this FREE event. Food trucks will be available as well as a vendor fair. If you are interested in being a vendor, fill out the vendor form here.
8th Grade Field Trip
Hello 8th grade parents and guardians! We are still looking for a few chaperones for the upcoming 8th grade field trips that will be taking on Tuesday, April 29.
We have enough already for the Como Zoo/Capitol, but still need adults to come to the French Regional Park (Moraine Picnic Area) with Three Rivers Parks Outdoor Education and to Fort Snelling/MIA.
We are looking for adults to lead groups of *about* 10 students. There will also be several teachers on each trip also leading groups of students.

Staff Appreciation Week
During the week of May 5-9, Mounds View Public Schools will recognize all staff during Staff Appreciation Week. Each day during that week, you'll see an employee group spotlighted on our social media pages. Help us send notes of appreciation to our Mounds View Public Schools staff. Brooker-Edmond VFW Post 724 Memorial Day Parade
Honor our veterans this Memorial Day by riding your decorated bike in the parade...no fee or registration! On Monday, May 26, come to the New Brighton City Hall parking lot (before 10 am) with your bike decorated in red, white, and blue crepe paper. Then ride your bike in the parade to St. John the Baptist Cemetary and join others in the commemorative program. For more information, please contact Henry Kaynes at hkaynes@comcast.net.

After-school Activities
Track Coach Needed
We are looking for a track coach for our spring session. The session will run Mondays through Thursdays from April 21-May 22. Please contact Christopher Hoskins at christopher.hopkins@moundsviewschools.org if you are interested.
Activity Bus Routes
Regular school day buses leave Edgewood at 2:32 pm.
Activity/After-school routes leave Edgewood at 3:45 pm (Monday- Thursday).
There are two after-school/activity bus routes, buses #65 & #8. To find the location of your students' drop-off location for the after-school bus routes, click here.
Track - Coed (Competitive)
Track and field is a coed sport which combines various athletic contests based on the skills of running, jumping, and throwing.
All students grade 6 - 8 are encouraged to participate. No experience is needed. Activities will not meet on non-school days. Activity buses are available after practice for eligible students at 3:45 pm. Meet day busing will bring all students to host school and return remaining students to their home school ONLY (times will be determined once meets are scheduled).
Practice is 2:30-3:40 pm on Mondays through Thursdays; meet times TBD.
Bring running shoes and water bottle.
Pickleball - Coed (Competitive)
Pickleball is the fastest growing sport in America right now! Learn the rules and basic skills of pickleball, no experience necessary! All students grades 6-8 are encouraged to play. Activities will not meet on non-school days. Activity buses are available after practice for eligible students at 3:45 pm. Game day busing will bring all students to host school departing at 2:35 pm and return remaining students to their home school ONLY by 5:30 pm.
Practices are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:30-3:40 pm from April 22-May 22; games between 3:00-5:00 pm on 5/6 at Chippewa Middle School and 5/22 at Edgewood Middle School (tentative schedule).
Flag Football - Coed (Competitive)
Intramural Flag Football- Coed is for all students in grades 6-8 and are encouraged to participate. The game of flag football is a fast-paced, non-contact game played between teams of seven players. Each player on the offense and defense wears a set of flags. "Tackles" are made by pulling the flag out of the belt. All physical contact is strictly monitored for the safety of the players.
Activities will not meet on non-school days. Acitvity buses are avaialble after practice for eligible students. Game day busing will bring all participants to host school departing at 2:35 pm and return remaining students to their home school ONLY by 5:30 pm.
Practices are Tuesdays & Thursdays from 2:30-3:40 pm from April 22-May 22; games are between 3:00-5:00 pm on 5/6 at Chippewa Middle School and 5/22 at Edgewood Middle School (tentative game schedule).

Registration for summer day camps and activities are open! Flip through the electronic catalog and register at mvpschools.org/RegisterCommunityEd.
Reduced Fees & Financial Assistance
Youth who are residing within the Mounds View Public Schools boundaries and currently qualify for educational benefits and/or free/reduced lunch may be eligible for reduced fees and partial scholarships to qualifying Enrichment & Activities programs. Financial support is provided by the Ralph Reeder Food Shelf, District Community Education Scholarship fund and other community donors. Qualifying Enrichment and Activities will have a Financial Support/Educational Benefits fee rate that is 50% of the full fee for the program. KnightKrawler Robotics Wins North Star Regional!
Let me hear you holler! KnightKrawler Team 2052 are your 2025 North Star Regional champions and will be heading to FIRST Champs in Houston, TX, April 16-19!
At the North Star Regional, Team 2052 was Rank 1 with a record of 15-0-0 and won the following awards:
- FIRST Dean's List Finalist Award (Irondale student Afomia M.)
- Regional Winners
They competed in the playoffs as the Captain of Alliance 1, along with Team 3197, Hexhounds from Cedarburg, WI, and Team 4198, Robocats from Waconia, MN. Match 1 of the semi-final play-offs can be found here if you want to see Mayfly 2.0 (2052 on the Red Alliance..red bumpers) in action!
Congratulations to Team 2052 and their Auto Captain, Afomia M, on their big accomplishments this weekend. Good luck at FIRST Champs...we'll be cheering you on from afar!
Join the 2025 Marching Band!
We invite you to join the 2025 Irondale Marching Knights this coming season. The Irondale Marching Knights is a competitive organization open to high school students at Mounds View High School and Irondale High School. Current 8th grade band students at Highview, Edgewood, and Chippewa are eligible to join us this coming season! The marching band is a 4-time Minnesota AAA State Marching Band Champion (2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024) and has a national reputation for being one of the top programs in the Midwest. Families who are interested can learn more about our program by viewing our Registration Guide, which includes a PowerPoint and our Rehearsal & Performance Calendar that was shared at our Information Night this past week. Ultimate Frisbee Registration - Last Call
The Mounds View and Irondale High School Ultimate Frisbee teams are excited to invite you to join our spring program. Ultimate is an inclusive, non-contact, team sport that involves running, jumping, throwing and catching. Practices will be held on Tuesday and Thursday in April and May, with additional game days. Boys Soccer Player/Parent Meeting
Date & Time: Tuesday, April 29, at 7:30pm
Location: Irondale High School Multipurpose Room
This meeting is intended for all players who are interested in playing boys soccer this fall, and their families. Players entering grades 9-12 in the fall are invited to attend to meet new head coach Deven Cairns! New booster president Martin Ramsden will give a brief overview of the boy soccer booster club.

Middle School Consent Form for High School Activities
Seventh & eighth grade athletes that wish to participate on a high school team will also register online. Before you begin your online registration, approval must be obtained from the middle school principal or dean, the high school activities director, and coach. In addition, signatures from both student & parent/guardian are also required. You can get a copy of the middle school consent form in the front office or print out a copy.

Edgewood Spirit Wear
Show your school spirit! Orders will be processed on the 10th of every month, with delivery approximately 3 weeks from that date. Find your school store and place an order at mvpschools.org/spiritwear.
Friendly Chromebook Reminders
Chromebooks are provided to each student to provide access to digital learning opportunities in class. Please remind your child(ren) of the following:
- Charge your chromebook each night so you're ready for school in the morning.
- Treat your chromebook with care. Chromebooks can be damaged if they are in your backpack and it gets tossed, thrown, or dropped.
- Keep chromebooks in a safe place at home.
- Chromebooks are to be used by the person they are assigned to. Please do not allow your siblings or friends to use your chromebook.

The front office hours are Monday-Thursday from 6:45 am - 4:00 pm and Friday from 6:45 am - 2:45 pm.
