Chisholm Update
August 30, 2024

Happy Friday Chisholm Families!
Happy October! I hope you and your family are well as we make it to the end of another week. It was great seeing a steady flow of parents at school last night for the first evening of parent/ teacher conferences. Conferences will conclude this coming Tuesday from 4:30 to 8:00.
Today at Charge Up we celebrated our custodial staff for all the hard work and effort they put in daily to clean and take care of our school. Steven Green, was recently hired to work as our head custodian, and he is doing a great job becoming more familiar with our students and staff and while taking on the task managing and caring for our building. Ken Wallace, Luz Lopez and Victoria Martinez do an amazing job cleaning our building during the evening helping us get prepare for the next school day. Thank you Chisholm Custodians for all that you do to take care of our building!
It's hard to believe how quickly the weeks are flying by, but that must also mean we have a lot of different things going on around the building. After today we have 8 more school days in the first 9-weeks reporting period. We also have 8 more days until Fall Break!
Today our 3rd-graders had the opportunity to see students from the Oklahoma City Public Schools Native American students perform cultural dances in relation the the tribe they represent. These students were able to share information about their clothing, history, and variety of dances and tribes they represent..
October is National Down Syndrome Awareness Month, and next Friday, October 11th we are asking students and staff to wear Crazy Socks to celebrate the many and varied abilities and accomplishments of children and adults with Down Syndrome.
I've added some information below about YMCA, the Edmond Creative, and the winter gear ordering window is now open and currently taking orders. There is also information on the Edmond Arts Council art camps that are available in the evenings along with camps that will take place during Fall, Thanksgiving, and Winter Breaks.
YMCA - A flyer has been added below if you are looking information regarding registration for upcoming little league basketball.
The Edmond Creative is a monthly newsletter that provides an update on Edmond Public Schools Fine Arts programs. This can be used as a resource to discover what great things are happening around the district, and provide information for fine arts educators throughout the month.

Dismissal Reminders
At the end of the day, we ask that early checkouts happen before 3:00. If your student is a 33rd Street Walker, they should live in Old Farm or Thornbrook. If your student is a Spring Hill Walker, they should live in the Springhill Neighborhood or the subsequent neighborhoods that are too close to receive bus transportation. Students that ride a bus will load from the gym once their bus arrives at school. If you need specifics on bus numbers and times please click this link, which will ask you to fill out your address.
Car Riders will need to use the Red Hangtag, which was given out at Meet the Teacher. (If you were unable to attend Meet the Teacher, our office is open 8-3:30 on Wednesday August 14.) Please be sure to make sure this tag is visible to the person out front entering the number by our marquee. Once their number has been entered, students will come out of the building by the first grade hallway and be positioned by one of the concrete bollards numbered 1-6 (please be sure to stay out far enough aways from the bollards so your car door doesn't get dinged). If you don't have your hangtag, you will need to pull in and check your student out from the office. There is a button below that goes through the Car Rider procedures.
Thank You Dads on Duty for your help during arrival on Fridays!
